Ok, so i've decided! I was finding training for another race pretty hard going and not that fun, so I've decided to do a triathalon! I can't handle iron man :p But I figure these are a good way to get in shape as well as you get to mix up your training a bit! Does anyone know any good ones? that aren't too long? Like 5k run/ish

If you go on Runners World and search under events you can also search for tri events.  My dad is pushing me to do a tri, don't own a bike, and if I did I have a beetle so no way of transporting one!!

Awwww ok! Well i figure this is a good way of getting back into fitness and being a bit more rounded!

Good luck with that Lozzle - I wish you success but most of all enjoyment. I couldnt do it - my swimming style was once described as similar to a demented windmill...all flapping arms and energy but no movement my seven year old can out swim me !

Don't worry if you don't learn to love it already.  My friend who I did my first 10K with back in 2006, she never really developed a love for it but intermittently ploughed on with it but was always a chore for her.  She completed her first half back in March and is now trying to improve her 10K time this summer, got a very excited text saying last weekend saying she had smashed her 10K PB by 2 1/2 minutes and was really looking forward to her speed session a couple of days later to see what she could do.  Hurrah!

Yo Lozzle

I think mixing up your training for differant distances through the year is a good plan. I only run 1 marathon per year and that is London. The rest of the time I spend running mostly 10k's and 1/2's.  I have run a 5k but it was a bit short and fast for me. Also the Conniston 14 mile which is a good run. So go for it as it will improve your fitness and speed for your next full marathon

Hey judge, how you doing?...Are you in for Cardiff this year yet, cos if not, I'm going to go and do Salisbury city half which is on the same day and much nearer for me?..Hope your training is going well and your poor old frame is holding up??..Kiss~

Lozzle

You're mad! Good luck on the triathlon - you won't see me there, last time I went swimming I was told off for flailing my legs all over the place, and I haven't been cycling for years, so no triathlons for me any time soon.

Loozle, you go for it girl...........YOU ROCK!

I wish I could do triathlon.....but can't swim....well I can, but only breast stroke, which isn't the most effective style.

Good luck!!!!!Cool

Yo Flanker

I have entered the Cardiff and Gods (and Godesses) willing, I will be running it. I ran a 12.5 training run on Sunday. Thats my longest run since 2009. Slowly building my fitness and endurance back up.

Went to see my consultant today tho following my latest arthrogram. It looks like I have a loose piece of cartiladge in my hip. As there is no NHS funding for the surgery required to remove it ????? I have to have another arthrogram, I have been manipulated and measured by a physio and a bid has to be put in for individual funding. Don't know how long that will take, So just taking it one run at a time. Still waiting for an answer on my knee as well.

I am running The Great Manchester Run on Sunday, so I will see how I do in that.Did The Pennine 10k in 55 mins so I would like to break 50. A long way off my best but not bad to say I am in pain and can't accelerate.
