I was half way through befor I realised. i did berlin as my second marathon to get under four hours (paris was first and still my favourite) Then wanted to go to boston as i have freinds there qualifiedfor boston in brussels then did london with a club place Then got stuck in britain with the ash cloud so postponed boston by a year but went to ny instead then boston then a freind wanted to do chicago .
so no they wernt all done as going for the majors . you actualy get a certificate but i know what you mean about yhe shirt.
Never mind majors what does Bungay Mean?
The Majors are five marathons that got together and run a competition to provide the bigest prize purse for the person who acumulates the most points as in winning the most races and is decided every two years.
boston, london, berlin, chicago and new york city are the marathon majors races.
Bungay Marathon - it's one of the SuperMajors. Check it out
Soft & fuzzy

Soft & fuzzy
Do London, it's brilliant. There was a guy from the US, who joined the forum last year before running it. I think it was the Running For My Life bloke or some such and he was overwhelmed by the atomosphere - especially of runners, who are giving it a go - over here.
He came to the Buzzer picnic too with his wife, great guy!
Wow, you guys remember me! lol.
I came on here to check up on everyone, maybe make a donation contest post, saw a title about the Marathon Majors and decided to read it. I was pleasantly surprised to read something nice written about me! Thank God it wasn't the opposite! lol
For anyone that doesn't know me, I was overweight for my entire life (300+ for the previous ~6 years). At 47 decided to change my life and even though I could only run 10 yards when I started, ended dropping my weight down to 163 (113 in 10 months), and ran the 2009 Boston Marathon nonstop. In the process I raised money for Cystic Fibrosis research, a disease that affects my 13 year old niece Julia and many others. It is now my lifes goal to help find a cure for the disease. But I digress...
After I finished Boston, someone asked me to run Chicago. I didn't know what the "Marathon Majors" were but upon researching the Chicago marathon, heard about it. I decided that it would be a good way to combine vacations and marathons so I set a goal to run all five of them. Not for bragging rights but soley as a personal goal that none of my friends really even know about.
Obviously each race has it's merits. Boston 2009 will always be near to my heart for obvious reasons as stated above. Without question, the hilliest but also without question has the most "serious" runners. Chicago 2010 was my favorite because the course was flat, interesting and great crowd support. That said, it was 87 degrees and extrremely sunny and I came close to dieing! New York 2011 was sold as the greatest marathon in the world by many of my friends and running buddies. Personally I was a little let down with the race. Why? Because I ran London 2011 7 months earlier and it is without question the best marathon I have ever participated in. The course. The runners (you guys). The crowds. The Fun. The charities. The history. I could go on and on. Just a couple of marks off for the water bottles (seriously bottles?) that caused me to twist my ankle and the heat but even with those it's still way out in front. And this includes the other 11 other marathons I have run in the past 3 years as well. You should be very proud of your race and anyone reading this would be a fool if they didn't run it.
BTW, I am not able to comment about Berlin as I have not run it. That said, I will be running it running it this Sept 30th (2012)! Unfortunately I seriously doubt that anything can match London. Your race has ruined me! lol It's nice being back on this board and good luck to everyone running VLM 2012!
Roger :)

Hi Flanker! I was looking for you and forgot you (appropriately) changed your name.
Don't want to hijack this thread (too late!) but it's funny that you mentioned my video. With my permission, some guy reposted and renamed it "The Most Inspiring Video You Will Ever Watch" and I have become internationally famous! lol It's actually about to break 1.35 MILLION views! Here is a link for anyone that is interested. Not sure how to embed a video so you'll have to click the link: http://youtu.be/Ja9BFx5Mhqo
