Hi, A group of 4 of us are running the NY Marathon on 2nd Nov 2008.
We've been told we have places on the official bus from Midtown at 4.00am!!
We'd rather not sit around in the cold for 6 hours until our start at 10am.
Does anyone know if there is any reason why we shouldn't get a taxi to the start area at a more reasonable time? maybe 6-7am?
Thanks for your assistance,
Alan
Its supposedly a nightmare for any unofficial traffic to get to the strat area. Not sure how much of this is urban myth.
Hi there
We are also a group of 11 runners taking part for Kidney Research UK on 2nd Nov, like you have been told a 4am start. I checked the official site and will double check at the expo but apparently buses run from 4am to 7am to the start. Really annoyed about the times as it's touch enough to run the bloody marathon without doing one sitting in t he cold beforehand. Apparently our running numbers have an allocated time for a bus but we wont be turned away on a later one either!
We are planning on leaving about 6am, I think it's awfu to ask people to leave at this rediculous hour when they are going to bust a gut to run the marathon!!
Have a great run and hope that's a help! :)
From my research I have found that a taxi from midtown to fort wadsworth via the bayonne bridge NJ should take about 45 minutes, and cost $50 & tip & tolls,
So with 4 of us, we're planning to taxi it around 6.30am
Al.
Can anyone confirm doing the taxi thing in previous years? 3 of us are thinking the same.
1st marathon, but the thought of waiting 6 hours (4am as the rest of you) to start is just plain mad! How does it work in London?
