Is anyone going to run in the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON this year? If so, get chatting about it here!
i did it last year and I can totally recommend it. It was a bit hot (25c at the finish) but that meant more people came out to watch. Loads of people were playing music and generally adding to the atmosphere. It's also a really flat course which helps!

its easy to get a place like that and I think it closes in July. There are loads of UK charities as well if you miss that deadline

I did 3:56 :D
Very happy as first marathon and took it very steady as didn't know what was goingto happen after 21miles (plus the amount of people collapsing scared me a bit)

Hi Bernard, I think they're all going to get hotter judging by the temperature of this year's London Marathon and by what we're being told about global warming - so I guess I'll have to prepare for that.
Maybe instead of running marathons, people could spread out running 26.2 miles throughout the year and run or walk to more places instead of using their cars? Then at least the temperature might not go up :)
That's probably too radical a suggestion!
I entered Berlin at the start of the year when i was flying in training for the FLM. I have pulled out as i want more time to train (doing Milan in December instead). Just got my money back for it which was nice of them - 93 Euros!

You'll be able to use that when you're over in Milan then :D

The problem is people only change their attitudes when it's convenient or socially acceptable. Now 'climate change' is headline news, it's not quite so uncool to care about it.
Having said that, imagine the wonders warmer weather will do for the UK tourism industry...

The Berlin race is seen be some to be the 'easiest' because it's the flattest of the WMMs - so many runners try to get their personal best time there.
Being flat means it's also a good one for people doing their first marathon...

You're right - it's considered a fast course; ideal conditions to break your personal best. 5 W-records were set and current record stands @ 2:04:55. I'll try to get in next year. I've just finished FLM and wife says 1/year is enough. Definitly need to work on my time.

Thanks guys! Think I'll make that my 1st marathon then - I've not been to Berlin anyway so it'd be good to go and have a week there :D
