I've injured my knee, and there is not much time before this race. I have heard that a shot of steroids might get me through the race. Does anyone have any experience with such thoughts?

Are you talking about Cordizone? That is the shot I got a couple of days before one of my marathons. it got me through the race, but I needed to recouperate properly afterwards. "
Maybe you should think about that. Especially since htis is ":only" a 10K and not a longer marathon - you'll probably be OK.
Good luck!

I had to get a shot of cortisone in my knee right before a 10K last year. I had already paid the nonrefundable fee, plus I was psyched!
I agree with fastgirl, it took me longer to recuperate, but it was well worth it.
Does cordisone cause long-term health problems?

Cortisone is not an anabolic steroid, which are the ones in the news. It is used as an anti-inflammatory measure and according to my own doctor, it has no long-term ill effects when used short-term.
This post will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Are you sure?
