About England's Irie should be England's World Cup Song...

Location: GB

Fabio says "No Song" but we need one don't we?  Rather than asking Simon Cowell to step in and save us with a bad cover version, let's recycle and use a song from the heady days of Euro 96 when life was simpler and vinyl smelt so good but not as good as a kick around to the sound of Britpop in the park with your mates followed by a few beers.

England's Irie features the great Welsman that is Keith Allen, a figure so pivotal to a good England football song (World in Motion, Vindaloo) and the late, great Joe Strummer.  Top this with a Black Grape and you have a moment of magic that could inspire Walcott, Sir David, Crouch and Heskey to stumble through the group stage; cause us to sweat during the quarter finals; moan a bit at the TV in the semis and maybe concieve during the final as we miss it in the last minute when the Germans equalise and we lose on penalties...

So get out there people, get MCA to re-release it, get on iTunes just get it out there for In-ger-land...

Also available on the official Euro 96 album, The Beautiful Game...
