About
The Inspire Foundation exists to help young people lead happier lives, and is the organisation behind leading online you...
About Us
More than 1 million young people living in Australia have a mental health disorder right now. Chances are that a mental health problem affects you or someone you love. It could be your partner, brother, sister or child. For every 10 young people who experience a mental health disorder, only 3 will get help and tragically suicide is the leading cause of death in people aged 14 - 25 years. For many young people, talking about what's going on is scary and hard. Sometimes they simply don't know where to go, so they turn to the internet for help. Going online is an easier first step. That's why Inspire created the ReachOut.com service.
"It was 1:30am, I was desperate and had nowhere to turn. I somewhat sarcastically went to Google and typed in “help”. ReachOut.com was the first result. Thank you.” 19 year old , anonymous male
Since 1997, the Inspire Foundation has been developing ways to reach the 70% of young people with mental health disorders who are not getting help. We work online and in schools, where we know we have the best opportunities to reach and help every young Australian.
With the help of generous supporters, we provide resources to assist mental health professionals and bring together the mental health sector to conduct world-class research through the Inspire-led Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre. Find out more by visiting our website www.inspire.org.au
