It feels good - I can't deny or lie that I didn't want to come back to the sport and win some races. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into in Panama, but in Galveston and St. Croix I wanted to be in contention for the win and I wasn't there. I certainly came here with the goal of winning. There's a lot of great athletes in this sport and you show up - that's why we have the race. They shoot the gun and the best man normally wins. For me, it's cool to win, but, even more importantly, it's great to be 41 years old and be fit, be healthy. - Lance Armstrong.

Triathletes are always trying to figure out how they can recover more quickly from workouts and races - it's the nature of the beast when it comes to trying to juggle three different sports. Whey protein has been shown to build muscle, speed up recovery time, and, best of all for triathletes who have another workout coming up, is easily digested, making it an excellent source of protein right after a workout.

A competitive European field will be on hand for this weekend's Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. Highlighting the men's field for the race on the beautiful Spanish island is Michael Raelert, a former runner-up at the Ironman World Championship and the holder of the world's fastest time for the full distance. The women's race promises to be an interesting one with a number of top Ironman and Ironman 70.3 athletes on hand.

So, do you know who Andrew MacNaughton is? Lance Armstrong sure does. During some of my research on Armstrong's first triathlon career, he talked about my old high school buddy and the man I can credit with getting me into the sport. Armstrong remembers MacNaughton because he was the guy who used to ride away from the competition in triathlon events. In fact, the Canadian was the first person to win a triathlon on aero bars - a feat he accomplished when he rode away from Mike Pigg at the Crawfishman triathlon in Louisiana in 1987.

The first "America's Paradise Triathlon" was held on the magnificently beautiful island of St. Croix in 1988. The largest prize purse in triathlon (the winner would take home over $45,000) brought the likes of the "Big Four" (Allen, Molina, Scott & Tinley), young superstars Mike Pigg & Jurgen Zack, Paula Newby-Fraser, the Puntous twins, Julie Moss ... and a young 16 year-old from Texas, Lance Armstrong.

The 2012 U.S. full distance Ironman season kicks off this weekend with Ironman St. George. A number of the athletes competing in Utah will be doing much more than just trying to complete the race. They'll be raising money through the Ironman Foundation's "Your Journey, Your Cause" program. In just a few months last year more than $250,000 was raised for over 60 different charity groups through this program. Today we profile a few of the athletes who are racing to raise money for some pretty amazing causes, including Robert Verhelst, pictured, who will, as he did last year at Ironman Wisconsin, complete the run course on Sunday in full firefighter gear, including air tank and helmet to honor and remember those who lost their lives as a result of 9/11.

While she's been racing as a pro for the last two years, it wasn't until a few months ago that Timex Multisport Team member Jackie Arendt finally gave up her job as a pharmaceutical scientist in Madison, Wisconsin to pursue the sport full time. One of the keys to her success, she says, has been her ability to listen to her body and ensure she doesn't push too hard at the wrong time.

It's already April and now you've been back training for a few months. And guess what? You're already tired and bored of the same old sessions. Many triathletes keep doing the same weekly schedule and sessions week after week all year and keep things fresh. While there is definitely a value in having a set schedule to help work and family plan around your training, it is also important to keep challenging your mind and body by mixing things up.

Weather conditions forced Ochsner Ironman 70.3 New Orleans race format to be altered to a two-mile run, 52-mile bike and conclude with a 13.1-mile run today. Neither the weather or the race layout managed to dampen the race action in the professional races. In the end there were surprise wins over the race favourites in both the men's and women's contests.
