    The Boys SOUTHERN YOUNG ATHLETES ROAD RELAYS took place at the Rushmoor Arena in Aldershot on the 24th September, on a warm and sunny day.

    The outstanding performance of the day goes to the UNDER 15 BOYS (4 x 2,997m) they won, beating a very strong Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow team by 27 seconds, in a time of 39.12. The time also broke the course record by 2 seconds. Pic added.

    Mind you the UNDER 17 MEN (4 x 2,997m) performance was not far behind, taking the Bronze Medals in a time of 50.05. Winners were Tonbridge, and they finished with 48.47. 36 teams completed.

    The UNDER 13 BOYS (4 x 2,997m) team finished in 21st place, in a time of 47.59, Tony Smith told me that the team were indebted to DANIEL WILSON who at the last minute agreed to run, unfortunately schools tend to insist on pupils competing for them, even if they have already committed themselves to run for the club.

    On Sunday 11th September our YOUNG ATHLETES embarked on the first road relay of the winter season, the MIDDLESEX ROAD RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS , which took place at the Minit Centre, Hayes. Normally the Hertfordshire championships are held in conjuction, but this year they are being run at the Southern Road Relays. Therefore a number of our Hertfordshire athletes were allowed to run as non-scoring.
