The Marathon Course
The ING New York City Marathon has come a long way since its 1970 debut, when the route was simply four-plus laps around Central Park. Nowadays, the route is much more expansive and picturesque, taking runners on a journey through the city’s famous five boroughs – with notable landmarks at every turn – before concluding at the renowned ‘Tavern on the Green’ in Central Park. The following section will tell you more about this route and what you will experience on race day.
