The Three Peaks Challenge
7-9 September
You don't always have to look far a field to find a challenge that will test your stamina, willpower, determination and support for Breast Cancer Campaign. New for 2007, Campaign is launching it's first year of UK Challenges – The Three Peaks, 7-9 September.
The Three Peaks is renowned for being one of the toughest challenges in the UK. Participants have to climb the highest mountains in Scotland , England and Wales in under 24 hours! Your challenge starts in Scotland as you tackle the heights of Ben Nevis , 1,343m above sea level. Five and a half hours of serious trekking will have you triumphantly declaring 'one down two to go!' Moving on from here you will be driven to the heart of the Lake District to start your climb of Scafell Pike , 978m high. This rocky route is a real test of stamina. After completing mountain number two you will head off to North Wales where you will begin your ascent of the final mountain – Snowden. Hiking through the early hours of the morning will ensure you achieve climbing all three mountains in 24 hours.
You will be trekking for approximately 13 hours and your travel between mountains should take 10 hours. It is a real race against the clock but expert mountain leaders and designated drivers will ensure you climb and travel between each mountain as quickly and safely possible. This is a great event to participate in on your own or as part of a team.
