Bupa Great North Run

The Bupa Great North Run is the most popular Half Marathon in the UK and is always an extremely enjoyable event with a massive field of fun runners raising money for charity.

There are two ways that you can run for Breakthrough in the Bupa Great North Run, either through gaining your own place in the official ballot or by being allocated one of Breakthrough's guaranteed places.

Anyone that wishes to run for Breakthrough we would encourage to initially apply through the official ballot. Entries open in January and you can apply online at www.greatrun.org. If your entry through the ballot is not successful you can apply for one of Breakthrough's guaranteed places. We have around 150 places that will be allocated on a first come first served basis to people that can pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of £350.

All Breakthrough runners will receive:

• Top quality Breakthrough running vest
• Fundraising pack including sponsor forms and fundraising tips
• Post-race reception in the marquee finishers' village
• Online sponsorship facility to help with your fundraising
• Runners' online discussion group
• Full support from a designated member of Breakthrough staff
