Running for the Dream Team makes a huge difference to the lives of terminally and seriously ill children. Many of these children and their families face months, even years of painful treatments and invasive surgery or the prospect of living with a long-term debilitating illness. Their dreams not only offer an oasis of joy, a new focus to their lives, but a magical memory that will live on with their families. Here is Matthew enjoying his dream;
Matthew, aged 13, has had two tumours in his spine. Following surgery and aggressive radiotherapy, the tumours returned. His mum really wanted him to have a special Dream Come True as he has been so brave through treatment. Matthew’s dream was to experience a zero-gravity flight. We arranged for him, and his family, to go to Florida, where he enjoyed his weightless flight at the Space Centre and even got to keep his spacesuit! He and his family then enjoyed the Disney Parks together. A trip they will never forget. A treasured memory.
