Be a Hero
Run to Cure Diabetes...
"I’m not ready to tell Mimi that she will have type 1 diabetes forever.
Mimi is three years old. She loves her sisters, horses, swimming and anything pink. Mimi was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only seven months old.
Mimi knows life no different, yet she believes that when she turns five she will no longer need her insulin because her older sister Libby is five and doesn't need it. I’m not ready to tell Mimi that she will have type 1 diabetes forever, unless the cure is found."
Annabel Astle, Mimi's Mum

Your support really will make a difference to Mimi, and the 350,000 people in the UK like her. Every penny raised leads Mimi's parents closer to a day when they will be able to tell her that the cure has been found.
About type 1 diabetes
- Type 1 diabetes is a chronic, life threatening condition which has a life-long impact on those diagnosed with it and their families. It normally strikes children and stays with them for the rest of their lives.
- Type 1 diabetes reduces life expectancy by about 20 years. Diabetes is the most common cause of blindness in people of working age, the leading cause of non-traumatic amputations and brings a five-fold increase in the risk of heart disease and strokes.
- People with type 1 diabetes rely on multiple insulin injections or pump infusions every day just to stay alive, until we find the cure. Type 1 diabetes can happen to anyone and is not caused by anything that person, or their parents, did or did not do. Only research will find the cure. JDRF exists to fund that research.
