People contact Samaritans because of relationship problems, health worries, financial problems, loneliness, bereavement...the list is endless.

 

Of the 5,000,000 contacts we received last year, only about 5% were from people seriously contemplating suicide.

 

Samaritans provides emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a year to everyone everywhere experiencing feelings of distress or despair. Around 17,000 volunteers give up their time to provide this service by phone, email, face to face and letter.

 

We desperately need your support. Our service receives very little funding from government and statutory sources, yet each year we need to raise over £10m to be sure we are there for every person that contacts us.
