The fastest Ironman finisher in history is set to provide the toughest test for Cameron Brown's 10 year reign at the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman New Zealand in Taupo on 3 March. Belgium's Marino Vanhoenacker set the triathlon world in a spin when he set a new best time for an official Ironman of 7:45:50 in Austria last year, which took five minutes off the previous best time established 14 years previous. (The full-distance record is held by Andreas Raelert.)

After a successful inaugural event last year, the Ironman team is hard at work preparing for the second Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas, to be held in The Woodlands on May 19, 2012. This early season event gives athletes a chance to head south to warmer water, as well as miles of uncongested roads for safe cycling and running.

Rasmus Henning burst onto the Ironman scene in 2009, fresh off his second appearance at the Olympic Games (eighth in Beijing in 2008, 7th in Athens in 2004) with an impressive win at Ironman China and an even more impressive Kona debut - fifth, despite a broken hand. Since then he's had two tough years in Kona, but those results aside, Henning will no-doubt be considered a contender for the win when he lines up at the Ironman World Championship in October.
