Best (2000)

An inspirational and entertaining football film

Best is an inspirational and entertaining epic that is sure to make you want to get your boots on and pretend you are Bestie.

Tagline: With the world at your feet, what is there left to tackle?

Best in a nutshell

A movie telling the life story of the late George Best  one of the greatest footballers to have graced the game of football. It follows his life from Belfast lad to superstar living the champagne lifestyle. The movie features Best (John Lynch) looking back on his life when his mentor Matt Busby dies in the 1990s.

Best cleverly combines real-life match footage with recreated scenes played out in front of computer-generated crowds. Its portrayal fails, however, to capture the genius admittedly a flawed one  that was Best. Even at his drunken worst he was undoubtedly someone that people still took notice of, and this fails to come across  although the look at the rest of his life is interesting.
