The Garmisch-Partenkirchen resort
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is arguably one of the best of the few German ski areas. Unlike many other ski resorts, it isn’t overly trendy so you won’t find yourself intimidated by the jet set. Aside from the excellent skiing, the fresh air and the landscape – Garmisch is a great family destination with good shopping facilities all in a typically Bavarian flavor. The ski resort is made up of 11 separate peaks divided into three ski areas. The mildest skiing is closest to town, while at the other end, is the very steep and popular Zugspitze glacier.

Après-ski in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
The après-ski has a different flavor than other resorts as it caters largely for families, although that is not to say it is a sleepy village. At night, the town is filled with lights and music – as the beer halls and clubs fill with thirsty visitors. If you’re out for a drink and then a boogie, the club and bar scene is very busy, with more than 30 nightclubs. Unbelievable!

Popular drinking holes are the Irish Pub and the Rosencrown, and there are the two trendy dance clubs, Marilyn’s Park and Peaches. If you’re looking for something a little quieter, then there are many quaint and cozy spots.

There is plenty of choice when eating out, with more than 100 restaurants in town, providing varied cuisine at decent prices. The food at the Bavarian kellers, such as the Braustube and the Frauendorfer, is excellent and proves a fun setting compared to the more formal restaurants.
