Running the Monopoly Run, London, UK

Spectacular running routes

A trip away does not have to mean that your running is neglected. Why not take advantage of your travel opportunities by running on one of the world's best running routes?

Distance: 15 miles (24.14km).

Should you be feeling particularly sprightly on a trip to London, why not go for an early and alternative London sightseeing tour? This route involves a lengthy 15-mile-plus run through the streets of London, which takes in the majority of the sites on the London Monopoly game board.

The route takes you through Park Lane, Mayfair, Bond Street, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Vine Street, Piccadilly Circus, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Northumberland Avenue, Leicester Square, Bow Street, The Strand, Fleet Street, Old Kent Road, Whitechapel, Liverpool Street Station, Angel Islington, Pentonville Road, King’s Cross Station, Euston Road, and Marylebone Station!

Top tips: The run is best done early morning when the streets are quiet, as some of these areas can get exceptionally busy. Also, should you find that you’ve overestimated your running abilities, then it’s easy enough to jump on the tube to get back to where you started. How many runs can offer you that comfort?
