Top 10 UK spas for couples

Treat yourself and your partner to a spa weekend

A typical image of the spa break is one that starts with a gift being bought by a guy for his wife or partner, who then goes off alone for the day or weekend to be pampered. But instead of doing this, why not make a spa break one that you can both enjoy?

Top 10 UK spas for couples

There are now many spa venues catering for couples in the UK. We have selected 10 of the best in which to relax and refresh together.

Champneys, Tring, Hertfordshire

Champneys Resort in Tring enjoys a rich history, as it was the UK's first health farm to be opened (in 1925). A typical weekend spa break here involves massage, facials, and Eastern scalp massage, as well as a choice of wellbeing and fitness activities, both indoors and outdoors.

Voted the Sunday Times Travel readers’ best spa in the UK after it had a £14 million refurbishment, what makes Champneys most suitable for couples is the recent addition of a specific couple’s treatment room, in addition to a new 25m pool and spa area, and a 150 square metre gym and studios.

The Spa at Chancery Court, London

The Spa at Chancery Court is a five-star spa with an extensive treatment list – including oriental head massage, hot stone therapy, the stress buster, flight reviver and full and half day packages.

The VIP treatment suite is also popular among celebrity couples. This unique suite has two treatment couches, its own changing area and a steam shower that seats two people which can be booked by the hour.

Elemis Day Spa, London

The Elemis Day Spa is a sensory space for men and women who wish to escape from the stress and pressures of everyday life. Designed to stimulate all of your senses, the spa will let you experience a luxurious blend of exotic cultures, colours and textures from around the world, including those from Bali, Tibet, Polynesia, Japan, Morocco and Thailand.

When you visit, make sure you sample the Moroccan Moorish Suite and its exotic herbal steam Rasul, which features two therapeutically molded, heated thrones that mirror your seated posture and lots of medicinal, coloured chakra muds to cover each other in!

Brooklands Hotel Spa, Surrey

With an iconic, art deco inspired interior, the world’s most historic motor racing track running through the reception, uber-contemporary conference facilities, a critically acclaimed chef, spa facilities and super suites, the new Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge, Surrey has to be seen to be believed.

Enjoy the company of that special someone, lunch, chill-out and generally have a good time whilst fitting in a few essential treats. Opt for "The two of us" package and relax in the outdoor hot tub, enjoy a High Velocity 25 minute massage, 30 minute Lubatti facial chosen by your therapist, followed by a manicure with Butter LONDON.

Utopia, Kent

Voted as one of the world's top 50 spas by The Mail on Sunday, Utopia offers special pamper breaks for two, which combine fine spa facilities with an overnight stay at the impressive Rowhill Grange Hotel.

Unique features include a 10m therapy pool with three different high-pressure Japanese showers, underwater massage beds and a therapeutic waterfall. The 19 treatment rooms offer a wide range of face and body treatments, making it possible to pick a variety of treatments to suit you and your partner.

Center Parcs, Whinfell, Cumbria

The Aqua Sana at Center Parcs is set in a beautiful Indonesian-style building tucked away in a quiet corner of the village, and offers great opportunities for couples. The majority of the spa sessions are mixed sessions open to couples, who can enjoy the range of experiences drawn from places such as Bali, India, Japan and Rome.

The ideal treatment here for couples is The Serail Suite, which is a self-applied mud bath treatment for two people. You steam gently in a herbal atmosphere, letting the therapeutic muds do their work of exfoliating dead skin cells, eliminating toxins and boosting the circulation. The treatment is deeply cleansing and leaves the skin beautifully soft.

Champneys Forest Mere, Hampshire

Champneys Forest Mere is set in beautiful, mysterious woodland with a magnificent lake, and is the perfect romantic location to indulge in a spa break for you and your loved one. The location blends enchanting grounds with the latest spa and beauty facilities, including the UK’s first thalassotherapy pool and an Alternative Health Clinic, as well as a variety of therapies – from Reiki to Graphology.

The Serail mud treatment rooms offer the chance to get dirty, and their twinkling light settings are perfect for romantic couples, who can then work off their energies with a dip in the 25m pool.

Risley Hall, Derbyshire

A beautiful Country Manor House Hotel with a brand new Aqua Health Spa which provides the perfect place for couples looking to relax and enjoy some pampering together. Within the Spa is the Abbey's Bistro.

Stays here include full use of spa and leisure facilities. One of their best packages for couples is the one-night Time To Be Pampered package, which is considered to be the ideal pre-wedding break to prepare for the special day. But even if you’re not a bride and groom, the package provides all couples with a full body massage, hand treatment, and eyebrow tidy.
