It's all running's fault!

Carrots and Gauntlets: This year I aim to get a sub 20 minute 5k, be that Parkrun or otherwise. I aim to get a 43minute 10K. At Half Marathon my pb is 1hr 35  so I would like to see that drop to 1hr 30.With the full Marathon, my target for Manchester next spring is sub 3hr 30. My target for Snowdon, this October, is sub 4. And at Chester a few weeks before Snowdon, the target is to get round without stopping!! I would also like to try my hand at a trail marathon or Ultra, I've signed up for Hadrian's Wall next June...

In Garmin Heaven!

Had my first run with my new Garmin yesterday and it was great! Well the weather was horrible and I got drenched and got very nipple sore but apart from that, the run was great. I'm really loving these long saturday runs. Up early, porridge and banana b...

Work Gets in the way part 2

After my difficult morning run yesterday I tried something a little different today. I was running a workshop in the morning and had to go to London in the afternoon so I decided to do my scheduled 50 minute run at lunchtime. Still not ideal, wasn't wor...

Work just gets in the way!

I was expecting this. Going back to work full time this week has had a tole on my training. Having to fit it round the work meant an early run this morning, had to do an hour so I got up early and had a bit of breakfast 30 minutes before my run. It took...
Well I think my long swim yesterday has paid off because I really felt up for my long run this morning (despite the second night in a row on the sofa bed due to Jane's continuing sickness). I had to do a 90 minute run today and so I did my beautiful 2mi...

Not ill...yet

I look at a lot of other people's blogs and God, there is a lot of illness around! Our family was lucky over the Christmas period; while friends were dropping like flies to some pretty nasty bugs, we seemed to get through ok. Now everyone is back at scho...

Tempo fugit!

Had a great run today, early morning, sun rising over a beautiful, mercifully dry Salisbury. 90 minute run felt good. The run before was more of a struggle; I was doing 2 min slow, 6 min fast, x 5reps. I found I did this in exactly the same time as I ha...

1 Hour off road hilly...don't...

So the sun was shining today! I was actually too hot. Still I decided not to venture to the off-road just yet, things being sloppy as all around Salisbury still, so I had to do my hilly run on pavements... feeling good. I was thinking I might have come ...

Goodbye Snow and Ice...

Well thankfully Salisbury is now snowless, the second wave never came and I have been running each day this week. It's cold though but I have found I've just been trying to run faster and I soon warm up. Got my new trainers last week so I'm breaking the...

My first Marathon Blog. Snow ...

Well I was intending to keep a regular Blog to chart the path of my training towards a first ever marathon... Still, better late than never. I suppose I am a keen amateur, I have been running on and off for a few years now, I am 47 and as I was getting ...
