Life after the London marathon

My targets for 2016 are exactly the same as those for 2015 but weren't acheived........A sub 4 hour marathon; a sub 23.27 5k or park run (Hollywood's current PB); and a sub 1:50 half.

I'm doing two marathons this year: Manchester in April (did it in 4.13 last year); and Snowdon in October (did it in 5.01 last year).  I'm very excited about both.

Deciding to run my first London marathon in 2013; and being part of this site in the process has quite literally changed my life.  The confidence and pride it has created; the challenges that I've dared to set myself since; and the long term friendships and relationships that have developed are all very special.

Now I'm ready...

Yesterday was the Warrington half marathon. This was the 5th or 6th consecutive year I'd done the race. Red Dave should have been doing it too but because of the op had to settle for being a spectator instead.  So my plan was this: start off at a 9 minu...

Only 3 weeks to go

So 3 weeks tomorrow I'll be doing the Chester marathon.  And 3 weeks after that the Snowdonia marathon - eek... Do I feel ready? Hhhmm - not sure.  I feel a little underwhelmed by my training and general progress over the past few weeks.   I did my last...

All Blue...

I think we are all agreed that Sunday was another realbuzz triumph.  I've not had chance to comment on blogs yet but will read them properly and do so later.  But I've seen and read enough to feel so proud to be part of such a wonderful community of peo...

Re-united with my garmin.

The last 10 days or so of running have been a bit of a challenge. After a long illness my beloved Garmin finally died. So I've been without for a little while  !! On top of this my iPod has mysteriously disappeared so I've been without music; and my hip...

Time is going so quickly.....

I can't believe that I've already completed 9 weeks to go of my training plan for Chester. That means only 7 weeks to go; 3 of which will be taper weeks. I sometimes almost forget that I have the small matter of two marathons to run in October! My train...

One very happy lady :-) :-) !!!

Some of you already know how I got on in my park run today as I have been shouting it from the roof tops all morning. But for those that don't .... 24.34!!!!!!   I am over the moon!!!! I wanted my sub 25 today on 9th August; shoulder to shoulder (in spi...

A good couple of weeks

Life has continued to be busy and fitting in marathon training around the kids; work; and a social life is quite a challenge at times! There's normally a narrow window of opportunity for each run – especially the long one. After my last blog I did my te...

Getting a bit concerned...

….About how I'm going to cope with this summer training. I hate, hate, hate running in the heat!! So training for 2 autumn marathons over the summer is starting to feel a little challenging. What with the heat; humidity; pollen (and consequent struggle ...

I appear to be marathon train...

Hello strangers. I've been another bad blogger! The 3 weeks since my last blog have gone so fast. Also, some of the things that you guys have been up to have made my thrice weekly runs seem a little ordinary! I was very happy after my park run PB and fe...

Puddles and PBs....

It's no secret that I was a little disappointed with last weeks park run. But there's nothing like hitting a bit of a low to give you focus! So I picked myself up; brushed myself down; and gave myself a good kick up the backside – I am a real buzzer aft...

A little flat today :-(

Well done to everyone who got out and smashed their park runs today. I know how great some of you did! You know who you are. My plan was to do bramhall park run with a couple of friends (Humphrey bear's dad and step mum!) but as Rob was coming over agai...

Park runs and other adventures

So as Rob has already said in his blog - we did the Platt Fields parkrun together on Saturday. I've not been able to blog about it before now as I've since been in a camping barn with 3 other adults; 10 children; and no internet connection! It was great...

A busy week

Hello all.  It's been a busy week for me.  I've continued to enjoy having no structure to my running and just enjoying in when/if I feel like it.  Not long now of course until I start training for Chester and Snowdon! On Monday night I went back to my r...

Don't worry yet JWA & Hollywo...

Another quick one from me. I did the Bramhall park run yesterday. The last time I did this one was with Rob in January. The conditions weren't great yesterday as it was very muddy underfoot; and I didn't warm up (tut, tut).  Plus I'd had wine the night ...

I blame Realbuzz!

This site should come with a warning along the lines of.... "Start blogging on here on before you know it you'll be taking on all sorts of crazy challenges".  A year and a half ago I'd got my first London marathon place. "Just the one" I told myself. Ti...

That post marathon feeling...

Hello all. Last year I got the blues after the marathon. It's not so bad this year as there are things on the horizon to look forward to ( I can't say I'm looking forward to the actual run at snowdon but the thought of the after party should get me thro...

Gauntlets

It's hard to imagine that this time last week it was only the day after the marathon and I couldn't walk down the stairs properly!! Thankfully within a few days I was back to normal and feeling great. As with last year I miss the London marathon with al...

Mission accomplished!

What a very special weekend it's been.  Where do I start?! Well firstly I have to say that it was a joy and honour to meet so many of you on Saturday. What a lovely bunch of people you are. The shared excitement of what was going to happen the next day ...

I have a mild case of taper m...

It's hit me. Like a thunderbolt. I've been calm and relaxed for most of the past 16 weeks but suddenly I'm filled with dread!!  26.2 miles. S**t that's a long way. And it's hard! Can I do it again? Can I get the time I want. I've not trained enough; not...

I can't get the Paris tracker...

Is anybody else tracking it? I've got red dave up but it's showing no information on his splits. It's not coming up with gaelle's details at all. Am I missing something obvious on using the app??!

That's it now. I've done all ...

10 miles done and dusted this morning. Next week there's just a couple of 20-30 minute runs to keep my legs ticking over. So that's it my last proper training run has been ticked off.  I've dilegently done every single run on my plan and have to admit t...

London. Bring it on!!!!!

Another week of being busy at work, looking after my girls and diligently following the Angus Plan. I'm not sure where March went but suddenly there's only 2 weeks left! How did that happen?!  So this weeks plan called for 7 x 800 meters speed session. ...

Redemption

So today was my final very long run. The run has been looming on my training plan for a couple of weeks. I've been dreading it because running 20 miles alone in training is...well...hard work. But I've also been looking forward to it because I knew that...

A mixed week for running...

Only 4 weeks to go! Where did the time go?!  All was well last week after my 20 (sorry, 19.5 miler) last weekend. No problems, injuries, or niggles. I have some padded insoles for my trainers that I bought with my very first pair of running trainers abo...
