Ok, I have my first marathon under my belt, the Flora London Marathon 2007. I did the race in 5 hours and 32 minutes but running time, according to my stop watch was 5 hours and 8 minutes.  I am going to re apply for next years race. I am hooked. For this years race I trained for 16 months. Prior to commencing the training I did absolutely next to no exercise.

Running the marathon has really turned my life around in terms of fitness and exercise. Where as in the past I had never really set myself goals in terms of getting fit, I now have loads of plans in the pipeline. I am hoping to improve on this years marathon time and run it next year in 4 and a half hours. I am starting swimming lessons, in order  to rebuild my confidence and improve my technique, with a view to doing a triathlon at some point in the future. I am going to continue with my PT sessions and start doing more exercise classes ie boxercise. My gym opens at 6am, so one of my goals will be to get up early and go before work. I am also going to climb Kilamanjaro hopefully next year, so will incorporate walking into my fitness regime.

I only wished I did this when I was younger, but 40 is a good age as any.

Finally I am going to keep on blogging, meet up with some of you guys later in the year and beat Harry in a race, any race, as long as I beat her.

Breasts, part 2

Got to Blackheath about 8.45 after having missed my train and I felt strangely calm. Probably something to do with the multiple sedative injections I gave myself the night before. I headed off towards the blue balloon  and had a sudden urge for t...

Remeber the golden rule, absolutely no sex the night before a big event like this. That includes straight, gay, lessie, bi, single or those with sex toys, pornography etc. Take the battery out of the device if you are extra worried about abstaini...

Carbo loading, loading, loading

I have never eaten so much in my life. My fitness magazine worked out that I need roughly 500 g of carbs a day to carbo load effectively. I now spend the best part of my day eating. Nice you might say, but actually I am sick of porridge, pasta et...

Can't sleep

Awake at 1am, 5am and 6am and got up in the end. "Ah, a nice cup and I'll watch tv in bed" I thought. Soon as I put BBC news on, it came to the weather. The first thing the bloody weather man said was "nice weather this weekend, but not so nice i...

Hot, hot,hot

I am getting really worried about the weather on Sunday. I guess we are all in the same boat together however. I have just looked on the net about running in hot weather and basically it advises slowing up or you'll overheat. Not that we would ha...

Cheesy dog paws

Has anyone ever smelt the paws of a dog. It is bloody lovely. Get your nose right in there and soak up the aroma. It is heavenly. The reason why I wrote this is because I have my Birkenstocks on today and they have a similar smell.  A bit like yo...
