Here we go!! My marathon training diary (heck!)

Righto...here we go, once this is out in Cyberspace, I WILL BE COMMITTED TO DOING THIS!

Ok, I should say hi first! So hi all! I am a 27 year old vegan, who scoffs far too much and thinks far too much, and uses running as a way of keeping sane

I started running last year and managed the Guernsey Father's Day Half Marathon in 2 hours 9 mins. The last mile or two nearly finished me off (had only done a max of 8 miles in training), but it was the very best feeling ever to cross that line, to know that I had actually committed to something, put the training in (I was the sort who left their exam revision til the last minute) and I did not stop once!! Seriously, the feeling of pride was amazing.

After a few injuries I kinda got out of running after that. Then my sister asked me to help her lose weight, so after helping build her up to 20 minutes non-stop running, I rediscovered my love for pounding the pavement.

Although my sister has decided running isn't for her, I am up to 10 miles at the moment, with the Brighton Marathon not far away in April...I'm very proud to be running for Starlight Children's Foundation :-)

So...watch this space!!

have to say, the training is going well! :-) I was a bit nervous attempting my fist 10 miler 3 weeks ago, but it was awesome! took me 1 hour 50 minutes, and it was all along Guernsey's west coast, so very scenic :-) My legs were starting to feel stiff a...

feeling good!

I am feeling absolutely awesome today. I was up at 6am, and out running along the coast by 6.30...it really is so blissfully quiet at that time, and the air feels (and tastes almost?) clean and crisp and fresh... Running along, alone with my thoughts, r...

My toe or front of foot or something started to hurt on Sunday, just randomly as far as I could tell, I didn't knock it or anything... It's caused me to limp a bit, but I've managed to ignore it and still hobble up to gym and go on treadmill etc, but th...

Just to let u all know that I haven't been slacking :-) Went for a run Thursday, Friday, Sunday and then managed to squeeze in 35 mins on cross-trainer this morning before work... Feels good to be back on it! x

After a heavy weekend...

It seems I have something on every weekend until middle of August!! Which is great, apart from the alcohol required (weddings/birthdays etc), which ends up with me slacking in the training department! Anyways, pleased to report that I did a 30 minute ru...

Back on it!

I am a very happy lady!! Ok, so it wasn't the longest run in the world, but I am back in the saddle so to speak! I ran along the seafront for 35 minutes last night, and it felt awesome...bought these nifty new socks, which stop you getting blisters, and...

What a beautiful day!! Luckily I have the afternoon off, so will be taking my first swim of the year :-) Not long til I can get back on the running, but in the meantime I managed an hour on the cross-trainer last night, and half an hour of arm weights.....
