So......here I go again! I feel incredibly honoured to have been successful in the ballot - only my second attempt and I am truly relishing the challenge again! I was lucky enough to run this years marathon with a gold bond charity place and was extremely happy to raise almost £4000.00 for Cancer Research UK. This time there is no fundraising pressure but I am still going to run in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care - if only I could have been that £113,000,000 Euro millions winner! Still, onwards and upwards - my aim is to raise a minimum of £500.00 and to complete the marathon in sub 5 hours.....hmmm....will have to see about the latter!!!

what a difference a week makes!

Well, after last weeks abysmal (is that how you spell it?!) 19 mile effort I set out on Saturday with some trepidation for my 20 mile run. Within about 1 mile though I knew it was going to be a good one. I had prepared myself far better this week - full...

Cripes! it's been a while!

I hadn't realised it had been this long since I last posted on here! So, what's been happening? I'm pleased to report that i'm up to 19 miles on my training runs - these have been fairly eventful too! Last weekend I decided to run early on Sunday mornin...

could it have been any wetter?!

So, on Saturday I decided I would have to put my LSR back to Sunday due to my chauffering duties for my 13 year old son! Well, that was a mistake and a half! I think the whole of the southern half of England had a lovely sunny day on Saturday - but boy ...

I was just sitting here thinking I really need to post another blog as it's been a week since I last posted! Well, actually a bit more than a week - so where did that time disappear to?! Ah, yes I know! Training runs for a marathon!! So, since I last bl...

Steaming like a racehorse!

Well, I managed to keep to last weeks running plans (almost!) I was feeling pretty chuffed with myself as I had managed 7 mile and 7.5 miles on Tuesday and Thursday respectively and had sat down last Friday night with my laptop to map the route for Satu...

best laid plans??

So, my training runs went a little haywire last week! My planned run last Thursday ended up being on Friday, which in turn meant my LSR planned for Saturday then had to be moved to Sunday. Still, it actually worked out for the better in the end as I acc...

Finally!!!!

Well, after a few weeks enforced break pre Christmas with a pulled hamstring and a break in New York over the new year I have finally managed to get my training back on track! I must admit that there were a few times when I considered deferring as I cou...

I'm really cross and upset as i've picked up an injury to my hamstring and this means I am now sidelined for i'm not sure how long..... I know i've still got ages for training until London 2011 but i'm not the sort of person who finds resting particular...

Good old Amazon (other online retailers are available!) - why did you have to send me that email today with the Garmin 205 watch bargain?! Now you've got me wanting one and not just that one - I now want the 305 with the heart monitor that's even more e...

an interesting evening.....

It's been a while since I last blogged but I am determined to keep more of a record of my training runs in preparation to run my second London marathon. On Monday evening I participated in my normal run wth the women's running network - I joined a while...

Training still going to plan ...

Well, I didn't make it to the running club on Monday evening - my thighs still felt really sore - a good comparison would be to say they felt like they had been walked all over by an elephant or maybe even a herd of elephants! Still I managed to make it...

Fantastic run on Sunday!!

I had planned a 14.4 mile route for Sunday's run however on further discussion with my hubbie on Sunday morning we decided we didn't fancy the planned route, so a quick rework on mapometer and I had my new route planned....15.79 miles! Oops! That was a ...

Woo Hoo! Outside training aga...

Having made the decision to join the gym last weekend because of the atrocious snow/ice I could not believe that a week later it had all melted! I have now resigned myself to the 3 months membership I have had to fork out from my Christmas gift money!! ...

Where does the time go!

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks since I last wrote on my blog! It's not that I haven't been training, it's just a question of time, or rather a distinct lack of it! I completed an 11.3 mile route on Saturday 12th Dec with my trusted hubby on his bike!...

Some days are just rubbish....

Well, I have finally managed to free up some time to be able to get on the laptop to write my next blog....my life is just crazy at the moment. I have overtime available to me 24/7 virtually if I want it and the greedy side of me is thinking Christmas i...

why didn't I run yesterday??

Just got back from a 7.5 mile run and wondered why I chose not to go yesterday when it was dry?! It started off ok, just a few spots and then......the heavens opened! Driving rain and wind in my face for 3 miles on the way back - not pleasant. I had to ...
