Compulsive training disorder....

A Running blog (with not much running at the moment) The Journey to VLM 2015 (hopefully!!)

I done FLM  2014,2010,2008,2006, 2002 and also 2000 , plus 18 others, and also 34 half marathons, throughout my time running since '98 and it is still my love. Plus various cycling events / triathlons in the past, and a lot of indoor rowing competitions

PB's

Ironman Triathlon - 12 hrs 13mins 22 secs

Marathon 3hrs 24mins 15 secs

Half Marathon 1 hr 28min 45 secs

10 Miles 1hr 4mins 28 secs

10km 37mins 10 secs

I started a blog on here as originally had a place for FLM 2007, but continual knee problems (which i have suffered from the last few years) put paid to that about 3 weeks beforehand, so continued to blog and somehow got round in 2008 in a personal worst of 4.37, compared to PB of 3.24, but it the fact now I have completed  24 marathons now so am happier! I am aiming for a  a place in 2015 and hope to get round very slowly.

Also completed the Trailwalker 100km challenge in July 2008 with teammates Rach, Trev and Sean from on here, in 22 hrs 22 mins, finishing 69th team out of 502 starters, and completed something I had wanted to do for years

My next ultimate aim was doing the Big Woody Triathlon on the 28th august 2010 (ironman distance) which I completed in 12 hrs 13 mins 22 secs,

The community of real buzz is great, have appreciated the support and reading and commenting on blogs, so feel free to do the same! So many people and friends I have made on here, so keep them coming!

Please feel free to comment anytime! After all I do need something to do at works at times!

Happy running all!

Friday 10th January

2014

Well after everything - really struggled towards VLM 2013 - and for once made the sensible choice to defer rather than risk further damage. It was really hard to do this as tend to never make the sensible decision. this is probably the one and only time...

Last night it at 5pm - was me, the treadmill, 101 running songs on the I-phone and a planned 60-90 mins run dependent on how knee and groin reacted and a bit of trepidation Result at 7.05pm -after 35 tunes, 2 hours 5 mins of runningand a distance of 14....

Still Freezing!!

This must be the longest winter for dragging things out. Well a reasonable week for exercise -managed just under 7 hours. Although 3 of them were doing weights. Managed 4 x 5.5km runs at lunch, so at least some mileage - a bit of turbo training -and wen...

Here's hoping

Its been a while since i have posted on here. I am lucky enough to have gained a marathon place - and am due to run (or walk!) this on behalf of cancer for research. I lost my mum just over a year ago to cancer -so for once despite all my marathons it a...

Thursday (original title - ca...

Hi all, its been a bit of a better week for me on the exercise front. Was off Monday so admittedly didn't do anything this day. Tuesday - I went for a run on the treadmill at the gym, 6.52km in 30mins, sogood speed for me - no pain from knee or groin. I...

Getting Old!!!

Aftre celebrating my 40th birthday in July, I am actually now coming to grips that my body is already falling apart.... At the moment......I have, a slightly painful left groin, which I can't quite shake off. An ankle that still sometimes hurts after ex...

Sun at last!

I saw the sun this morning, or at least thats what I thought it was! Nothing much to report -steady row again (while resting the groin) - 7627 metres rowed @ 24 SPM @ 1.58.0 average at lunch! Nuff said!

Drip!

Drip -thats what I feel like with all this rain! had enough now - don't want to play anymore -where is the summer gone? Had a 30mins row/erg yesterday 7737m @ 1.56.3 average.  A lot better than Friday's effort - I gave up indoor rowing as was finding it...

Nada

Well Nada is what I done this weekend - for once was sensible and rested up all weekend rather than pushing early and making injury worse. Friday had a 5km run in 30mins and felt the groin a bit in the evening, for once did the sensible thing, which is ...

Ming!

Today's word is MING - this is to describe the weather - truly awful out there... Not done a lot the last couple of days - had my 5km run on Wednesday and the groin held up reasonably well, and no real reaction (well it didn't hurt anymore!!!) yesterday...

Almost the end of the week

Well that was a good weekend, made me feel all patriotic. I haven't done much for the last few days -as at some stage (think it may have been the BMF class on Thursday last week) - I have done somthing to the groin area I feel, although it seems also to...

Aching...

Tuesday and aching

Back to work

Well the weekend went far too quickly for my liking!! I was on call this weekend so didn't venture to far. I done both BMF classes over the weekend, on Saturday went with the BMF runing club, that involved a 2 and a half mile (approx) run over hilly mud...
