Kenty's VLM 2015 story....

Well where do I start, as some of you are aware, I have been lucky enough to be offered a place to run in aid of Asthma UK, in the Virgin London Marathon on the 26th April 2015!

This will be a blog of my training journey!

I thought what would I like to do before I am 30...a marathon of course! Well to be honest I never thought I would be saying that but I am up for the challenge ahead of me and at the same time raising awareness and money for a great charity. 

I am not your stereotypical running type and was once someone who said "I will give any sport a go, but you are not getting me running!" - ha look at me now. Where did it all start...well I signed up for a 10 week beginners running group back in July 2012 with a local running club (Mounts Bay Harriers), and have never looked back. I subsequently joined the club and I have made some great friends along the way and some of them are as mad as me and are taking on the challenge of the marathon for their own charities. 

I have decided to run for Asthma UK, as although I do not have asthma myself, I have family and friends who do and also someone very close to me has had some asthma related problems this year and therefore I would love the chance to raise money for a deserving cause. 

I understand the devastating impact that the condition can have on people's lives and by running the London Marathon, I hope to raise awareness of asthma and how serious it can be. 

The facts...every ten seconds someone has a potentially life threatening asthma attack and three people die from asthma in the UK each year, but as many as 90 percent of these deaths are preventable. Asthma UK is the only charity dedicated to changing this and helping the 5.4 million people living with asthma in the UK. If you would like to find out more please visit www.asthma.org.uk.

Less than a month to go
