Back to 10k

Hi! About 6 years ago (is it really that long?) I was really into my running.  I completed a 10k but made the fatal mistake of not setting another goal..then I just stopped. Well I'm back now, got off the sofa finally in October, joined Slimming World also, dropped a stone and a half, completed a Santa 5K fun run, raised some cash for a local hospital and have now decided to run a 10k.  I must admit, now that my work has moved to full time, my children being teenagers and me being older  (that last one has the tiniest bearing I'm sure) everything seems harder.  Maybe I was crazy to start training at the onset of the Winter months but hey..I'm still plodding!

So. I'll keep it short. 4.2 miles. Fast. Happy. Job done. Pre run No "meal" but a very scientific sport supplement of a cup of tea and 5 biscuits. Dont mock it. It worked for me.

I'm claiming 7

Did not wear a jacket, just a vest and my rejection top from VLM today and heat control was much better.  The weather conditions were nice, misty cool, refreshng a bit wet underfoot.  I'm claiming 6 and a half miles, maybe 7 if I fibbed a little as my p...

Back Pack update

So I followed everyones advice, keep the back pack high, pack light, keep it snug...and I also fastened the chest belt...mistake..on account of me being a girrrrl and having boobs.  So that was undid.  Quickly..to allow for well, breathing actually.  Th...

Starry starry night

I ticked off another first. I joined my local running club. It took a huge leap to walk up to the group of runners and introduce myself.  I was so worried, you know, nervous sick worried, like in the way I used to get when the PE mistress announced toda...

Apologies and wet

So, I'm putting my nonsense previous post with a million typos in down to lack of time, the exuberance of post run blogging and an archaic computer that predates the ZX81 I'm sure.  So, thats my apology.   I'm getting into using the free Runtasic apps a...

The Postman Delivereth

THE LOOKS HAVE STARTED

The looks have started, you know, those looks.  The ones thrown by family, friends and neighbours when you don your training gear and head off in the downpour, with a cheeky smile on your face?  Yes, those ones.  Today I slept in until 10.00 am.  Practi...

If anyone could advise I would appreciate your wise counsel.  Years ago I spent, about £40 on Brooks 7s.  They were the best trainers ever.  Personally, for my level of running £40 is about where I want to be spending.   My foot is wide and the Brooks w...
