Where Do I Start?

Where do I start?

This is my third year of blogging, but I only took part in the FLM once so far, in 2007. The experience was amazing, my time wasn't but I didn't do it for a time although a bit less than 8 hours would have been nice. Anyway, I haven't got through the ballot for 2009 so I get an extra year to train.

Despite my time and the pain from an ITB injury half way through I still rate April 22nd 2007 as one of the best days of my life, it really was that much fun, and that is why I am determined to do it again (plus I have a little matter of about 3 hours to lose from my time). I want to cross the finish line when there are still people around - in fact the 24 mile marker had already been dismantled by the time I got there!

For anyone who doesn't know, I am 44, diabetic and almost 20 stone. Let's see what we can do about that.

Moving on

It's time to say goodbye to this blog. I've started a new one over on the VLM part of RealBuzz. I hope this one stay around for a while yet, there is loads that I want to take from it and keep somewhere or other, and it does bring back some fantastic me...

Never ever give up

Some of you will be travelling down to London in the next few days so might not see this if I post it the day before. I just want to wish each and every one of you an excellent day. For those who have done it before, I demand that you fly like the wind ...

Chessington, football and not...

Although I haven't blogged since last Wednesday I haven't been slacking, not too much anyway. Went to Chessington for the day on Thursday, as you can imagine there was plenty of walking done. I still took my rest day on Friday although I felt guilty abo...

2 blogs in 1

After my confidence on Monday I had to have a come down didn't I? Went for my usual 10 laps yesterday but decided to try running round the field instead of just one pitch. Started off OK but it wasn't long before I could feel the difference in running n...

Not a lot

Nothing much to add today. Another 10 laps of the pitch and honestly felt that I could have done a few more so I think it's now time to up those runs. Was nice and hot out there today and the field I run on is wide and open so there is no shade, especia...

Whacked!

Absolutely bollocksed! That's how I feel after todays gym session. Rest day Friday, didn't make it for a run or to the gym yesterday due to a poorly mum and hospital visits and this morning I was expecting to referee a football match but two refs turned...

Feeling it today

Wonder what gem Ruddy will come up with to that title? Been active every day this week and today it caught up with me. Went out for another 10 laps, maybe I was pushing it hard again as towards the end of my run I was flagging. Each run along the side o...

Bloody computers

I posted a blog earlier today but my computer was having one of those days where it took ages to load any pages, somewhere along the line my blog got lost so here's the abridged version. Went to the gym   Never ever give up

Getting fit

Did another 10 laps today, things seemed to be a bit easier than the last few times so maybe I am getting a bit of fitness back at last. Quite often I see an old fellah running around the field, or doing some form of exercise on it and today he was trai...

Slow down Philip

Compared to lots of you guys I do very little exercise but after a 5 month injury lay off just running around a football pitch is still a novelty. Trouble is I seem to have got my motivaton back in a big way now and want to run, gym, bike every day and ...

Being a good boy

Been good today. Workout 1 - went to my teams football match and despite being twice as good as half the team I had available I resisted the temptation to play. I did run the line for 90 minutes though, it was bloody warm out there today so I sweated a ...

Told it wasn't too bad

Despite the self imposed heel ache Thursday night and yesterday there was very little pain today so I thought I would try a jog. After plenty of stretching off I went (with the kids in tow) to the sports field for 10 laps of the pitch again. I have to a...

Setback

Is it really 9 days since my last blog? Blimey, doesn't time fly when you are having fun? Been running round the football pitches still, and going to the gym since then so I have been active. And so far they have caused me no extra pain at all although ...

I ran!

Firstly, thanks for the injections advice, I have decided that it will be a last resort so am giving it a while longer yet before I ask the fizzio. Talking of who, she was a  bitch yesterday. She made me run on the treadmill for 5 whole minutes - withou...

Injections

Anyone got any inside information or advice on having injections to help injuries? My PF is not clearing up despite the stretches, icing, rest, ankle strengthening classes, anti-inflammatories etc. In fact, today it hurts as much as it ever did and I am...

WW

Put on 1/2lb this week, add 1lb on last week and I am headign in completely the wrong direction. Time to take stock and re-evaluate my eating habits. I have noticed they are slipping again, the odd biscuit is always 5 or 6, I find th eoccasional late ni...

Half marathon today

For anyone who doesn't know, I live on an island. And it's just over a half marathn distance all the way round. How handy is that? When I get back to marathon training again I have a half marathon training run literally on my doorstep. Oh, you didn't th...

Helloooooo

I'm still alive. I thought things were going OK but redundancy, a huge argument with my ex-boss, flu and general apathy have stopped me in my tracks. The flu thing was strange, I didn't have any sniffles or coughs. I woke on Thursday morning with a very...

This is a really whinging post

I injured my heel on November 2nd and haven't ran since. A few weeks ago I was itching to get back out there and run but to be honest I have got out of the habit and don't really think about it anymore. Except when I see other people out jogging that is...

Tiny penis

How quickly did you click after you saw the title? Popped to the gym after work for an hour last night (3rd time since Friday), took it sensibly but it was getting busy and I am still at that stage where I would rather there were only a few fatties like...

My arms ache

Probably, no certainly, because I finally got off my butt on Friday and went to the gym. I took it relatively easy on the cardio machines as I didn't want to give myself a heart attack but once I got to the weights I'm afraid I went a bit OTT. I tried t...

Year end review?

Injuries, no races, too much weight and general apathy just about sums it up. Injuries - still got heel ache and it is still stopping me from running. I will see a physio this week to see if he can help. No Races - due to injures at the wrong time. Each...

I just noticed....

....it's Christmas Eve! Still up wrapping presents, trying to remember which are for who and making a mess. The turkey is ready, the food shopping is done, Christmas songs on the TV, the decorations are up, the cards are delivered and the kids are final...

Physio, Chiro or Podi?

My foot is still playing up and it isn't getting better fast enough for me, it's been well over a month that I haven't bene able to run and it's not only ******* me off but it's costing me money. I could referee three times at a weekend, that would be £...
