I think I’ve bored my office buddy with all my running & training talk, so every time I think of something I’m just going to record it on here…
Anyway, so one thing that I’ve complained about before with my running is the inconsistency in my pace, my technique and my breathing.
I’ve come to the conclusion that part of the problem is that I’m listening to music whilst I run. I do this for 2 reasons. For one it takes my mind of the fact I’m running, and two, I can’t stand listening to myself plod along.
It is beginning to dawn on me however that listening to music is actually dictating the pace of my running as I vary it to the rhythm of the song, rather than sticking to an appropriate pace. Whereas if I took the earbuds out and actually listened to myself, it could be the key to making further progress and controlling my breathing and pacing better.
So tomorrow I’ll go silent and see what that brings me.
