It's been a long time since I've blogged on Realbuzz, but here I am again :-)
After a late summer spate of injuries as I resumed training I'm pleased to report that I'm back on course with my marathon training plan - aiming for Brighton 2012 next April. I've also got a place in the VLM a week later, but ...hmmm..we'll see :-)
I managed 8 miles last night without any niggles from my injury prone calf muscles, which actually puts me a week ahead of my plan. We're off to Galicia on the 19th for 10 days over Xmas and I'm hoping to be able to use the break to do some hill work and regular short runs - as well as imbibing the local wine (Ribeira Sacra) and Aguardiente.. oh, and eating lots of the local cordero and pulpo!
2007 was the last time I ran a marathon, although I've completed the 100k Trailwalker event and 40 mile Ridgeway walk in the meantime, but I'm really looking forward to running Brighton and *touch wood* completing it! An added incentive is to keep up with the missus, who until last year hadn't run a 10k, but has recently completed her first marathon and has booked a place in the London Ultra in February!!
