How often should I drink during the marathon?
Keeping adequately hydrated is one of the secrets of successful distance running because dehydration results in reduced blood volume, making your race harder. The key to drinking correctly is to drink little and often because by the time you feel thirsty, you will already be dehydrated. Look to consume a small amount of water or energy drink at each station so that your fluid levels are always topped up and then you won’t risk dehydration.

I'd like to try using Powerade during my training in case I feel I need it on the day. I don't want to train carrying a bottle though. How do you recreate race day when you wouldn't normally drink during training?
