I get really sore calves when running, especially up hills and it really affects my running. I do stretch them but is there anything else I can do to help them? (I walked on my toes for 13 years which I think is the main cause)

Sorry to hear you are having a few problems with your calves – it’s quite a common complaint for runners. You mentioned you are stretching so you are in the right track.

Making sure you thoroughly stretch after every training session and ideally between your warm up and your main session will help. You might want to look at your training volume too – are you doing too much too soon?

Finally and most importantly, it’s worth seeking out some professional advice, either form a physio or simply getting a sports massage is a good starting point. An expert will be able to assess your problem and will be able to give you a set of stretches and exercises that will help alleviate the issues you are having.

I run about one and half miles and I'm training for a marathon and I'm starting to feel a pull like some tendon going into my groin is causing me a burning pain and I have to stop by 4.5 miles. What do you suggest?

I have recently pulled my groin whilst running, should I continue training or should I take some time of for it to heal. I have tried swimming instead but not sure how this will help me running longer distances.
