Do I need a disc wheel or not for triathlon?

A good quality disc wheel is usually the fastest option, even on the hilliest courses. Even if it’s windy the disc will actually stabilise the bike and it’s the front wheel that you need to worry about.

However, disc wheels are not as stiff as you may think so make sure your brake pads are wide enough allowing for the flex of the wheel. You don’t want the disc to be rubbing, otherwise you certainly lose all the advantage.
