What should I eat and drink on the bike?

The bike section of a triathlon gives a good opportunity to eat and drink and keep your energy levels up. As a general guide I’d say a bottle of Isotonic drink each hour and an energy gel every 30 minutes will serve you well. Use elastic bands to attach gels to your bike in the most aerodynamic way you can think of.

Try to think about eating on the slowest parts of the course so you’re not wasting time when you’re going fast. I wouldn’t recommend taking solids as often they are harder to eat then you’d expect usually as they become quite cold and when you’re working hard it’s tough to chew!
