How long should my long run be when training for a triathlon?
In triathlon I think that 1hr and 45mins is the golden number for long running. That's long enough to get the stimulus and the training, benefits but once you start tipping it over that you’ll carry that much more fatigue and depletion into the rest of your training week and it’ll begin to affect your cycling power if you’re running very long runs every week.
That said, when training for Ironman it can be beneficial to put in a very long run once every so often, but by no means make a regular thing.
