How do I swim in a straight line?
It sounds silly but it’s awfully common. You obviously don’t want to have to swim further than you have to, it is race after all. There are a few good ways you can help yourself.
Try to look up around every 10 strokes. You can practice it in training. A combined stroke, look up, breath combination all in one fluid movement so it’s not impacting your stroke too much. You should look for the turn buoys and if you can’t really see them for whatever reason then find a landmark that will guide you in the right direction.
