Limited-capacity 5km will celebrate realbuzz charity runners, with 45 additional places available to the wider Marathon field
Dublin Marathon Group has announced the launch of the realbuzz Shakeout Run, an official Irish Life Dublin Marathon Weekend event celebrating runners who secured their 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon place through realbuzz.
As Dublin Marathon Group continue to recognise the impact of charity running community, those who secured their 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon place through realbuzz have been offered exclusive access to register for the limited-capacity event for €20 per person (plus platform and payment processing fees). Each runner will also have the option to register one friend, family member or supporter to join them.
Through the official charity programme, runners are connected with participating charities in Ireland and internationally, with a dedicated route to securing a charity place in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon. Those runners then take on the challenge of raising vital funds and awareness for their chosen causes as part of their Marathon journey.
The realbuzz Shakeout Run will bring that partnership to life during Marathon Weekend, creating a dedicated opportunity to recognise and celebrate these runners, their fundraising efforts and the charities they support before race day.
Taking place in Phoenix Park at 9:00am on Saturday, 24 October, the relaxed, non-competitive 5km will bring charity runners, their friends and family members together to loosen their legs, settle their nerves and connect with the Marathon community ahead of race day, with all participants receiving a goody bag following the run.
To mark the 45th Irish Life Dublin Marathon, all other registered 2026 Marathon runners will also have the opportunity to win one of 45 additional places in the realbuzz Shakeout Run.
Seán Ó Riain, Chief Executive Officer of Dublin Marathon Group, said: “The Irish Life Dublin Marathon has always been about more than running. Every bib has a story, and thousands of participants turn their personal Marathon challenge into meaningful support for charities and causes close to their hearts.”
“Our partnership with realbuzz has been instrumental in growing the fundraising impact of the Marathon and connecting runners with causes that matter deeply to them. The realbuzz Shakeout Run brings that partnership to life during Marathon Weekend, giving us an opportunity to recognise the runners, stories and causes behind the miles and celebrate the impact they create before race day begins. As this is a limited-capacity event, we’re also delighted to mark our 45th Marathon by giving the wider field the opportunity to win 45 additional places and be part of the experience.”
Nick Hollowood, Chief Commercial Officer at realbuzz, said: “We’re proud to work with Dublin Marathon Group to help more runners make every mile count by raising vital funds for causes close to their hearts. The realbuzz Shakeout Run is our way of saying thank you to the runners who have taken on that commitment and bringing them together to celebrate every mile run, every euro raised and every cause supported before they take on the Irish Life Dublin Marathon. We’re excited to bring this new experience to Marathon Weekend and continue building on the fundraising momentum already achieved through our partnership.”
Runners who secured their 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon place through the Official Charity Programme will have received an email with details of how to register for the realbuzz Shakeout Run and are encouraged to check their inbox for their registration details and link.
All other registered 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon runners will also have the opportunity to enter a competition to win one of 45 complimentary places in the realbuzz Shakeout Run. The competition is now open until Sunday 20th September and will run across the official Dublin Marathon social media channels, with runners invited to comment on the competition post, tag a fellow runner and share why they would love to be part of the Shakeout Run. From the eligible entries, 45 runners will be selected to take part.
The 45th Irish Life Dublin Marathon takes place on Sunday, 25 October 2026.
