Alzheimer Scotland - Half Marathon
Do it for dementia!
Description
Alzheimer Scotland’s aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. As Scotland’s leading dementia charity, we provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
We can’t be there in person right now but the team running our 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline are working tirelessly to provide the people of Scotland with vital information on how to cope during coronavirus and beyond and offering emotional support while it is most needed. We are committed to keeping our support going but we need your help. Every single penny will make a positive difference.
By supporting Alzheimer Scotland, you are supporting the 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland and their families. It can be difficult to stay active in these troubling times but it is more important than ever to look after yourself and keep moving. Committing to a personal challenge is a great way to motivate yourself to keep active.
We know it is hard to get out and run right now so make this challenge work for you! You could split up the distance over a few weeks, run around the garden or up and down the stairs. Every step will help us to support the most vulnerable people living with dementia in your community. Send us your run, tracked through your preferred app, and we’ll send you a medal to thank you for all your hard work. So lace up those trainers and do it for dementia!
During these uncertain times it is essential that you look after your health and wellbeing, while following the guidance set out by the Government and the NHS around social distancing and self-isolation. Therefore please ensure while taking part in a virtual challenge you are doing so alone and in a quiet area. This is especially important if you care for someone living with dementia or other vulnerable people. Check for the latest information here: gov.uk/coronavirus.
If you become injured during your virtual challenge please cease from the activity and seek medical advice.
If you do not already have a realbuzz.com account, you will need to create one and verify it first, before signing up for our Virtual Event.
