Having been in the Army since 2004 there is one phrase in particular, that is drilled into you as a soldier, that you must 'Adapt and Overcome'... But it wasn't until I was injured in 2007, and ultimately lost the leg in 2014 that I truly understood this. I realised that I had allowed my injury to define who I was as a person and this was making me miserable.
