What is endermologie?

Endermologie is the non-surgical process of reducing cellulite in the body by mechanical means using a process of massage, rolling and manipulation of the tissues. Endermologie was initially developed in order to prevent skin contraction and loosen scar tissue during the treatment of burns, and was found to easily translate to its current anti-cellulite usage.

Before endermologie treatment begins, patients are given a consultation where the condition of the cellulite is discussed and a program of treatment is agreed. The therapeutic treatment process will then commence, in which a hand-held massaging head delivers intermittent suction and rolling action to the area being treated. Each treatment lasts approximately half an hour and is in no way painful. ‘Before’ and ‘after’ photographs will also be taken in order for you to see the results.

After an initial course of treatments, a 'maintenance schedule' of monthly treatments may be recommended.

What is the purpose of endermologie?

Almost all women have cellulite, which is caused by fat cells building up in pockets beneath the skin. These fat cells trap toxins and water, giving a ‘dimpled’ or ‘orange peel’ appearance to the skin.

Cellulite is thought not to respond particularly well to weight loss, exercise, creams, or even surgical liposuction. However, the action of the massaging machine during endermologie promotes the elimination of toxins that are present in the affected area, and also helps to restore its smoothness and fight the orange peel effect, which are essentially the aims of the endermologie process.

What are the benefits of endermologie?

Endermologie temporarily eliminates cellulite and assists in achieving visible improvement in body shape and skin tone. It can also help increase circulation, relieve minor muscle aches and pains, and relax muscle spasms.
