Well, I did it! I ran the Virgin London Marathon 2010, and I have to say I am quite proud! Not so much of my time but definately of the achievement and I raised £1,242 for Guide Dogs.

So I ended up having a little break from the running game during the back end of 2010 due to work and niggling injuries, but now its time to start again..and I have many plans!!

Well, its hasn't been six mon...

...but it has been six weeks. I guess thats marginally better! Just a little catch up really as to some plans for 2012, which will be my 'Olympic' year, I hope anyway. My main goal for 2012 is the Olympic Distance Triathlon known as the Dambuster, at Ru...

A reflective Birthday Blog....

...on the eve of my 30th Birthday! Well, I see it has been nearly six months since I last blogged, ooops. Although to be fair I keep up with so many of you on Facebook I don't feel too out of touch. So, why write this Blog now? Well, I am having a sligh...

A Belated Blenheim Blog....

and a few other thoughts..... So, I survived Blenheim! I have to say I was more than slightly overwhelmed at the finish and had a little cry, which was odd because I always thought I would do that in the Marathon but never got round to it! I think I was...

So...where did we get too...

ah yes, thats right, just over three months ago when I last blogged (ahemm!) I was complaining I was fat...I don't think too much has changed so we will move on from there! So, whilst failing to blog I have at least been achieveing something in the fitn...

Wombleing around.......

is slightly how I feel my training is going. After the last time I blogged, when I have just had a rather successful week, it did slightly go a askew. This was partly due to a weekend away in Lanzarote and also the workload seemed to get turned up ten f...

On a mission...

Hello! Can't believe it has been over a week since I last blogged, but I can report that this is because I have mainly been exercising...well, actually I have probably mainly been working,  but much exercise has been going on. The first week of 'reverse...

RE: Right Then!!!

Best to forget the back end of last year I think. After the wedding I got completely bogged down by work, I started to run again but I pushed too hard to soon and learnt my lesson hard when I earned myself a nice hamstring twinge. Frustrated I fell out ...

The thing I most enjoy about ...

is the shower at the end! I now swim on a Monday night, and the other half teaches me as he is really rather good at the swimming , and I can now crawl but flipping heck its hard going and I feel destroyed the next day. I think some proper lessons might...

A glimmer of hope....

Nothing major to report other than I think that my cold is finally on its way out - I have at least one of my ears working today, which is a bonus. Saturday was a bit wonky and my plans for running went a rray but I finally managed to go out yestday for...

Its tough at the top....

but it even toughr at the bottom! Long story short, not really any running over the Summer. Little bits here and there but to be honest I am not good in any kind of warmth, work was a b**ch to put it mildly and then a small thing called 'wedding' croppe...

Pressing the re-set button...

is what I am hoping this weekend will do for me.... We are off to Portugal for a wedding, its a very short break and we fly back Tuesday morning but I am hoping it will just give my head a break. As those who read my blog will know my horse had been lam...

PB Whoop Whoop!

Well finally, I have achieved what I feel is a decent PB for me, with my 57minute 10k on Sunday - and there were hills and it is was blinkin hot this year! I was concerned that I hadn't really been getting as much running in as I would have liked for th...

Has it really been three week...

I can't believe how long ago the marathon seems now, but life seems to have been on fast forward since it finished - partly I think due to how much got put on hold in the run up to it. Yes, its true I am up to my arm pits in wedding! My job is always ex...

My London Marathon......

Well, where to start. Lets get the bit I am not too pleased with out of the way first. I am a little dissapointed with my time....5hrs 10m (including a 5 min loo break!) and I know I probably shouldn't be, and I am probably my own worst critic, but I am...

and now, the end is near.....

And so I face the final curtain. My friends, I'll say it clear; I'll state my case of which I'm certain. I've lived a (running) life that's full - I've travelled each and every highway (towpath/field/disused railway line). And more, much more than this...

Spotty Muldoon...

Oh where to begin. Well after my update last Friday I took myself home for the weekend in a sorry state hoping that a couple of days rest would sort out the gargantuan (nice word!) ankle and did get a sneaky 4.5m in while the other half was at the pub -...

'Gammyness' Report

Hello my lovely tapering marathon family! Thought I would just give you a quick insight into the level of 'gammyness' (not, technically, a word I know but...) my right leg has now taken on. The reaction to the phyio tape is really, um, how can I put thi...

Taper Time.....thank goodness!

Well, its finally here, and not a moment too soon! Last weeke didn't carry the greatest set of mileage for me again, as its become a case of saving the shin for special occassions such as 20 milers these days! Anyway I swapped running for a swim on the ...

Topsy Turvy....

...is just a bit how I feel at the minute. It has been a week of mixed emotions. I decided to take Monday off as I had quite a long physio session and it seemed a waste to have the legs (yes, both..) worked on to annoy them again. So on Tuesday I set ou...

Hmmmmmm...

Well, firstly well done to everyone who had super running this weekend, everyone seems to be very much on form and I hope you are all enjoying well earned days off today! I had a very good week in terms of week day mileage, only losing a mile to make th...

ZZZzzzzzzz........

I am definately feeling a little fatigued this week after the weekends effort, but to date the week has been going better than weeks past, so can't complain too much! On Tuedsay I went out with the Womens Running Group who had a 5m on the scedule, which...

Kilomathon. Done.

The week did not go as planned. After the inital excitement of finally getting some physio I went out for a 7m on Wednesday, having already missed a 4m on Tuesday. It was hell, I can only think it was because I was coming down with a throat thing that I...

The road to recovery....

Sadly I have no miles to report this week as yet but I hope to start making that up this evening. This morning I had my first appointment with the physio - YEAY! Obviously I was not expecting to be cured here in an instant (in fact I was very scared he ...

RE: When its good, its good....

I hope you are all enjoying this very cold, but beautifully bright weather? It took a while for the sun to break through on Saturday, and truth be told I near froze to death whilst watching my other half and Jane running their first 10k on Saturday morn...
