Will I ever be as fast as normal people?

I'm going to do the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-on-Avon in April '09 (maybe, but I am not sure yet if I am 'fast' enough for them to let me do the 2nd half). I'm currently down in Australia until March '09 (where I seem to be running even slower than normal). I was always slow, and then in 2005 I had an awful accident, and I'm now 'blind' and disabled. I ran FLM '08 in 6:45.  But there were some people behind me, I wasn't last! I will get faster (I hope!).

Another random post.

I felt too cold-y to run today, but I an hoping I'll feel well enough for a 1/2 hour run in the morning (if I get up in time, as hubby wants to leave at 7:30, to go for a tri-club bike ride).

The :-) is back.

I did me 2.44 run into town again this morning. I went at 11 and a quarter minutes/mile. Slow for normal people, but not at all bad for me. My stuffing cold his still here, but I thought 'Stuff it', and went for it anyway.

Nervous (again again again......

Sorry. Nothing to tell you about running. I haven't been for a run since Monday. I have had another cold (plus work was heavy - 6 hours of lecturing on Tuesday. And a snotty nose. Would you have gone for a run?). I am planning another 2 and a half mile ...

I actually RAN today! :-)

I got back to it this morning (even though I've still got this second cold). I did my 2.44 route this morning, not as fast as I managed a couple of weeks ago, but not at all bad (11.4 minute/miles, so faster than I did it on Friday). I'm still not hopi...

:-( :-( :-( yet again

I've got another rotten cold, and so I haven't run this weekend. On Tuesday at work I have an utterly daft day again (6 hours of lectures! Eeek!), so I won't manage it then either. I might squeeze one in on Wednesday (and almost certainly will Thursday ...

:-) for a change.

I finally managed a run this morning - just a brief one (my 2 and a half mile route). I didn't do it as fast as last week, but reasonably good. I'm back to running!

:-( again :-(

I planned to run at lunchtime at work today. Then I looked at my pile of gear... and there was no towel I'm afraid I couldn't face a run with no shower afterwards! I WILL run tomorrow morning, even if it's raining! Rain is a bit of a put-offer for me, ...

Lots of :-( :-( :-( s

Not about running, though. Just about my sodding cold I will almost certainly be off work tomorrow (which is a major pain, as I should have 6 hours of teaching to do ). OK, so any idea of doing the marathon are gone, since I can't run at all for a few ...

A cross between :-) and :-)

I did my 5-and-a-half mile route (some of which is alongside the Tames!) this morning. I did it exactly the same speed as I did last time I did it (in September), which is above the 12.25 min/mile mark. I really enjoyed it, until i realised how slow I'd...

Yep, I'm definitely faster ba...

I did a 4 and a bit mile (hilly!) run this morning, and I did it in under 12 minute miles. I have done it a few times faster than that, but I have often done it a lot slower. So Now I'm having a bit of a dither. Should I be aiming for the marathon afte...

Why am I so much faster back ...

I just did my almost fastest run yet. Well, apart from 400m track sprints! And I did a few seconds per mile faster, back last April. It was faster than all of my non-sprint runs down in Oz. in fact, the only non-sprint Ozzie run I did any faster was a 1...

I give up (again, admittedly!...

I went back to work today, after my 5 months off, which was nice, but I'm now utterly exhausted, and I still haven't managed a single run back here in the UK. I think the idea of me running a marathon next months is silly. And the chances of me being ab...

Oh dear (again).

Well, I got home on Friday nigh, after a very long day, when we were picked up by a tax at 4am, flew all day, and arrived at nearly 7 (but add on an extra 9 hours!). We were all utterly knackered. Yesterday was a busy day, and my husband had to sleep mo...

My graph! (Hey, I'm a scienti...

I don't know if this will work (or if anyone will be interested...). I am flying home tomorrow. I wonder whether my pace there will go back to where it was (and maybe the distance on the maps here is a bit odd...), or whether I have just slowed down pe...

Oh well, I enjoyed that *unti...

I just ran my 7 mile route. I thought I had done really well... until I was nearly home, when my time had jumped. I am not sure if my watch hadn't really stopped on on of my drink-stops. but loooking at the split times now, only one of them was OK. The ...

Sorry guys. This is *another*...

Well, after a good few non-running days, I went down to Hyde Park again (the dinky lake-filled Perth one, near our house here, not the big one in London). And I did laps of the lake again. The first time I went there (a good few weeks ago), my fastest l...

I'm not much of a runner at a...

Well, I don't run on Thursdays, but I normally do a short run early on a Friday morning. But I didn't today (I wasn't meeting my Ozzie friend, and I just couldn't be bothered on my own). I am hoping to do a 7 miler tomorrow morning. On Sunday morning, w...

OW! OW! OW!

Oh well. My '14 miler' felt fine until, at about 6 miles, I fell over. I thought 'Oh no! I'm falling! Here comes the ground! And there's nothing I can do. This is going to hurt. Oh yes, it does!' BANG! OW! I am now covered in blood and bruises, and I H...

Nervous (again again)

I will run 14 miles tomorrow. I should get up early, then do two of my 7 mile loops (with a break here in the middle, to fill up my water bottle). Scared! Of the heat, more than the run itself. I really hope it will be bearably cool. I've set my alarm f...

No more dithering.

We were planning to spend our last Saturday in Oz taking the girls over to Rottnest Island. But we've now realised that there is a swimming something-or-other there on Saturday, so the ferries (and the place itself) will be packed. So we will go on Sund...

Rubbish run, and dither - rac...

I went for a run this morning, and my legs didn't hurt anything like as much as last week  but I just didn't feel like running. So I walked home. I've got an email this morning, that's sent me into a real dither. Do I want to do a 16k race on Sunday? T...

:-) Got a PB in my race today...

I really enjoyed my 10k race this morning, and I went under 11 minutes a mile. (OK, so only down to 10.99 min/mile, but hey, that's under, isn't it?). It was lovely, nice weather, flat course, alongside the sea. Lovely! Followed by freebie pinapple ju...

I'm a bit happy :-) (again...)

Weee! I just did my 5.49 mile route, nearly 2 minutes faster than I've ever done it before. That is well inside the 12.25 min/mile pace I need (if I can just keep that up for another 6 miles... Pleeeaase let me!). Today I have a Bagpuss party, with my O...

:-) :-) :-) (Oops, it is tell...

I met my Ozzie friend for a 2.5 mile run again this morning, and did that route a full minute faster than ever before. 11.5 minute miles, so the fastest non-race run since I've been here in Oz. I do find it weird that that slow pace is really fast for ...
