Will I ever be as fast as normal people?
I'm going to do the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-on-Avon in April '09 (maybe, but I am not sure yet if I am 'fast' enough for them to let me do the 2nd half). I'm currently down in Australia until March '09 (where I seem to be running even slower than normal). I was always slow, and then in 2005 I had an awful accident, and I'm now 'blind' and disabled. I ran FLM '08 in 6:45. But there were some people behind me, I wasn't last! I will get faster (I hope!).

I'm a bit confused.
This morning (at 6am!) I met Jan for a run. We just did a loop close to home (2.5 miles). It was quite hilly, and I thought we were going quite fast. Jan said I had more energy than her (though she's normally faster than me)...
I'm knackered. But happy!
I just ran a little over 7 miles (and it's hilly here, remember), in just under 13 minutes/mile. Yeah, slow for 'normal' people, but fast for me, particularly since I seem to be running even slower down here in Oz than...
I'm planning to do a 7-miler tomorrow. Which willl be the first time I've been that far since ... oh! The marathon in April. Eeek! I wish I hadn't just checked my running excel sheet to find that out. I was nervous before, but now...
Plus I really ...
I just went for a 4-ish miler, which I got horribly lost on (due to me not having a printer here, and therefore no maps!), so I had to turn round and come back. It was 4.81 miles, and my ITB didn't hurt! Hooray!
My pace was only 13.5 minutes/m...
OK, I'm still slow, but... :-)
I just did the same 2.5 mile route, and my leg felt better (I could *feel* it, but it didn't hurt), AND I did that route the fasted I have yet. OK, so it's still over 12 minutes/mile, but hey, 12.25 is better than...
I went for another 2.5 ish mile run this morning. my ITB felt fine, until the last 300m, when I turned back into this road I'm living on. Argh! Why?
But it felt better through most of the run, so I'll carry on with the ice and stretching, and t...
I just went for 3-ish miles. My ITB didn't hurt (though now I can really feel it). I hope this means it is getting better. I will carry on icing and stretching it, and we'll see.
I can feel it now though. I hope that's OK!
Well, I went for a short run this morning. Quite soon, my ITB started hurting. On Monday it was just my knee, but today the knee wasn't quite as bad, but it was definitely the ITB band up the side of Imy thigh that was hurting. I stopped running, and w...
I hope 2 things:
a) I'll wake up (when my watch goes off!) at 7am tomorrow
and
b) My ITB can cope with the short run i have planned.
Pleas please please...
I went out to do a 7-miler this morning, but my right thigh really hurt. Eventually I gave up and turned around to walk home. But even walking hurt :-( Why?
I'm worried about the running / marathon training, but I'm also worried about this hur...
I just did 5 and a bit hilly-ish miles. I got lost, and didn't do the route I'd planned, and I'm knackered now, but pleased with myself.
I still seem to be running everything slower than I do in England...
Yesterday the Masters Runnin...
Ooops. Jan pulled out, so I was planning to run on my own this morning. But then I got up, and it was throwing it down. (I wear glasses, which are a real pain when it's wet. I don't normally run in the rain. Except this year's FLM when there was horrifi...
I did run 3-ish miles on Tuesday, and I thought I was going out with Jan, my Ozzie friend and her mates last night. But, thankfully before I put my kit on, I realised (from a text message) that we were actually meeting non-running friends for a meal out...
I set of for a 'longish' run, but found that I had to stop and find a toilet (surprise surorise. I knew that would happen before I went. Why couldn't I just go before running, when I knew i needed to? And why am I telling you lot?)
Then i set o...
This morning I met up with the Ozzie lady I'd met though links. We had to do it at 6am, because of hassle with her husbands work and their children.
It was lovely. I'm definitely going to run at 6am again. Lovely temperature (it would be a bit ...
I'm down in Oz now (until March). My 6 year old's at school hubby is at work, so it's just me and the 4 year old. Not good running conditions! Plus I never get a chance to go for a run in the mornings or evenings.
I *might* get to go with some...
I just did some 400m circuits (in the pouring rain, which is a bit of a pain, since I wear glasses). when I first did those 'sprints', back in July, I dreamed of being able to get under 2min/400m (yeah, I know, it's slow by normal people's standards, bu...
Just trying to see if this works today, as it didn't 'take' the text yesterday.
Yesterday was my 10k race, which I enjoyed.
Then I signed up for the Shakespeare Marathon in April. EEEEEk!
I just di my 2.88 mile run, in 29:19...

Yet again, I did my 2.88 mile run in under 9.5 min/mile. If I can go that fast at the 10k race tomorrow, I'll do it in under an hour. Oh I hope so...
I just did my 2.88 mile run (yet again...), in under 9.5 min/mile. I'm knackered now, but happy.
I wonder if I can do the 10k next week in under an hour? I'll be very pleased if I can!
Plus, I got an email from oz this morning, from a frie...

I've just been for my 5.66 mile run along the river. Not quite my fastest yet, but less than a minute slower than my fastest. And i enjoyed it! Listening to Crowded House by the river.
i'm still worried about being too slow next week, but stu...
