I've 3-Peaked!

After many years of almost running a marathon, coming so close to rowing an ocean and nearly scaling a mountain, I've finally been "pursuaded" to abandon my slothfulness and undertake the 3-Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) Challenge in Sept 07 on behalf of WellChild (www.justgiving.com/Karl3Peaks).

I've read all the inspirational stories from Ellen McArthur, Cracknell & Fogle, Chris Moon, the Everestmax team (pls look at their website) to the guy who had to cut his own arm off with a penknife but I've always had a great excuse for not doing such things especially the old faithful "I've got dodgy knees".

This year, for a number of reasons (boss leaning heavily, friend trekking up Everest and the inspirational London Marathon runners of the WellChild team), I've decided to overcome a general allergy to excercise and a not too keen liking for heights and summit the three highest peaks in England, Wales & Scotland.

Challenge...........bring it on!!!!!

Done it!

Back safely although both knees, feet and all toes are now completely knackered!  a tough challenge indeed but very rewarding.  Ben Nevis was ok going up (3hrs approx) but coming down (3hrs) was a killer.  It did claim one victim - a split head a...

Update......

Another £100 from the todler group where I take Heath and I've met what I committed to on the fundraising side of things.  My mother-in-law number 2 (long story) has agreed to hold an event and I've still to do some targeted letters to friends/fa...

So far so good

One of the girls I work with leaves next week to have a baby so donated the proceeds of her swear box - another £27 so fundraising is going great guns with just £83 until I reach my target. Training slightly more difficult this week w...

Line Dancing

£268 in the bag towards my fundraising target!  Excellent!  It was exactly what a line-dancing night would be with quite a few large, sweaty ladies shuffling across the floor.  Thankfully my rugby club (where it was held) were disorga...

Not getting any easier.......

Sat & Sun took the bike to the Forest of Dean on their 10mile family trail.  No way can this be classed as training but i'm working on the fact that doing something is better than nothing. Did a hill climb yesterday with Heath on ...

I'm still a lazy sod!

Weds night did an 90 min walk (with hills) with no probs but still no swimming / cycling.  On Sunday, I'm thinking of doing my own 3-Peaks involving three hills around my home and cycling in between....however still in the planning stage and will...

Training continues

After two weeks out with a pulled calf - i could have done something really after a week - i've been back in training.....well yesterday anyway.  Climbed a hill close to home with my 2 year old son on my shoulders all the way.  it too...

Oh No!

After starting so well have hit the wall.  Cycled the 7miles to and from work and used the boots in a hill situation.  Wife laughed enormously in the fact that I am 4 inches taller in these boots but they are not gonna need too much in the way of...
