One Step At A Time

Running is taking 'One Step At A Time' and that's all there is to it.

Some take their steps a little faster than others, but we all get there in the end.

My stats this year are:

5km - 31 mins 17 secs

10km - 1 hour 6 mins 48 secs

Half Marathon - 2 hours 28 mins 5 secs

So my steps are a little on the slow side.

This year I am concentrating on Half Marathons and finishing with the Derby 10 mile in November.

I am determined to get closer to my Half marathon PB of 2 hours 21 minutes.

Follow my journey with it's many downs, and hopefully some highs as I train to chase my dream.

Strange Times

It's unfamiliar territory for everyone.  We are allowed to exercise once a day, but how long will that last?  I am trying to go out each day for a run, while I can.  Ironically I had been unwell since August with various colds and a nasty dose of flu ov...

A slow 5k and a speedy (er) one

I started the year with a New Years Day Parkrun.  It found it incredibly difficult. I was still recovering from that flu type virus which has been going round. I would have liked around 35 minutes,  but it was 37.  I wasn't dissapointed.  I had run the ...

Slowing down

I rather stupidly signed up for a 1000 mile challenge in January.  Less  than 100 miles per month.  How hard could it be?  EXTREMELY  I plodded through the year  and reached the beginning of September and had a target of 3.5 miles a day. Still doable ...

Who moved it?

I ran up a hill today.  My marker was a letter box on a post.  It gave me something to aim for.  Got to it earlier than expected.  It was a ma  in a red jacket.

Derby 10 mile aka 'Beat the B...

The last race of the year and it was the Derby 10 mile on a different course  due to the floods the previous week. I ran this with Mum,  partly due to the course which had a number of switchbacks and she finds this difficult.   She is has lost part of ...

Lessons learnt

It's  been  a weird summer. I haven't managed to run any PBs, but  enjoyed the races l have entered.  I missed a half marathon, because I felt under pressure to do it.  I went back to 80-20 running which I really  enjoy  doing.  It's mainly easier runni...

5km Summer Series (and the ch...

Whoops - Catching up 5km Summer Series Race 1 I love these races.  They started last year, but there are not many people who run them. Two laps of a park.  This used to be Darley Parkrun, but it was moved because the locals didn't like the runners 'r...

Great Northern Half Maratho...

I have run this race twice before.  In 2017 on a very cold, rainy March.  All I can remember is Mum meeting me as I finished and apologising for throwing away the coffee she had purchased, because her hands were shaking so much from the cold she had spi...

I don't always want to be a s...

I started running in 2013.  My first Parkruns were over 50 minutes, my first 10km over 1 1/2 hours and a Half Marathon just under 3 1/2 hours.  I have got faster, but I am still near the back of the field in races and would love a sub hour 10km, just on...
