Eenibeenie's in the London Marathon

OMG after 5 years I am running the London Marathon once more in April 2011.  I look and feel like a blob currently so have to get going and soon.  Will begin on Sunday.

Here I go

Well several months later and a stone heavier I have finally been forced into movement again due to general depression at pain when wearing anything other than a tent.  Woke up this morning and felt so old and fat that I knew today was the day. So back ...

Body of a 90 year old

Have not pounded so much as a paving slab let alone a whole pavement since the VLM.  Buggered up left knee with ITBS which meant no training for the Moonwalk.  Did the Moonwalk on Saturday and miraculously left knee no longer hurts but right knee does! ...

Lame but not currently bothered

Hi there just back from sitting on a crowded beach in Lyme Regis - last time we attempted to go there en famille we drove 40 minutes, got there, drove round looking for a parking space, could not find one so drove home again.  This trip more successful ...

Where have the last two days ...

Can't believe it's Wednesday already - I am in a daze from Sunday still and have lost all sense of time.  Isn't it amazing how something you spend half a year preparing for suddenly appears and then  just as quickly disappears?  I have mixed feelings of...

Dorset bumpkin goes to the bi...

Jumped on a train at Sherborne today and took myself off to the Excel to avoid crowds on Saturday - it was really exciting but brought it home to me that it's this Sunday, not next Sunday or three weeks' on Sunday - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.  Anyway, got m...

Perfect Timing

Got up nice and early Sat morn for the last of my "biggish" runs, blister-plastered up to the max. Set off in lovely sunshine, appreciating nature etc along my way and generally feeling very smug until a teenage boy overtakes me wearing a bandage on his...

carbs I love you

not posted for a while - didn't seem much point when all I've done is sit on my **** for a week recovering from the nastiest, tightest, most painful calves after overdoing it the weekend before.  Have adopted a "C'est la vie" approach to all things mara...

Please somebody say something...

After great 16 miler last week this week was 19 miles so set off on same route but added a little bit on.  A lot warmer than last week and I have been feeling tired this week due to not sitting down ever but persevered until about 9 miles then legs went...

Runners, runners everywhere!

Everywhere you look there is someone pounding the pavement, lolloping up the lane, racing up the road - when the sun comes out and the VLM is only a month away we all get out there don't we?  Having had mild anxiety about proximity of race and insuffici...

Yes it is going to happen

ooh blimey o'riley I got my magazine today!  In celebration of this I ran very fast (for me) on the treadmill for 30 minutes and went very red.  Am feeling a bit worried that there are only 4 weeks now to go and it's such a huge thing but am also really...

Marathon AND Moonwalk

I am doing both the VLM and the London Moonwalk (in May).  Had our first proper walk out on Saturday and ended up with blisters!  Haven't had one in all my marathon training.  Unbelievable.  Got some double skin socks after that.  Just did a lovely sunn...

ooh my knees...

Planned to do 15 this morning for a SLR but after faffing around cleaning badger s**t off my  dogs following our walk and basically doing anything to avoid running I left myself too little time and ended up doing 13 again.  However, living round here th...

the sun has got his hat on......

went for a lovely 40 minute jog around the lanes today it was great to be outside in the beautiful sunshine.  Legs not aching and my time was much better - I was wondering what was happening?  Glad I did that half marathon now and don't feel so scared a...

Give me my strawberry milksha...

Decided to do the Yeovil half marathon route with P my husband - we set off early Saturday morning and did really well for the first half which does not involve much uphill.  However, we were in for a nasty shock as the second half is HORRIFIC!! Swore I...

Risen from the bed

After ten horrible days full of cold Queen of the Night and I took to the streets - in daylight too.  QOTN has had a month off with being poorly and it was my first run since coughing my guts up non-stop for nearly a fortnight so we took it slow and ste...

Got the lurg...again

Not in good shape having succumbed to yet another cold and I never get colds normally. Am seriously worried about how the hell I'm going to get through the marathon at this rate. Don't know what I'm doing wrong - caught it off my daughter again so will ...

Treadmill hysteria

Did one run last week due to ridiculous schedule and extreme knackeredness.  Felt better actually for a week off so braved the treadmill - being "Static Woman" I have developed a great fear of getting on and getting zapped again.  However, having resear...

Broken double figures at last

Set off today in the freezing cold but hurray for the lovely sunshine!  Left my gloves behind so my hands knew about it all right.  Anyway, soon warmed up.  Ran around perimeter of town which really only has one big long hill then the rest flattish so f...

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

am fuming due to brand new treadmill giving me electric shock then cutting out each time I get on it - what is it about me?  It doesn't do it for my husband and now he is suggesting it is my own personal static that is the problem.  Charming.

Back in the swing of things

Had a lovely 3.5 miler around town last night, felt really fit too for once - it's amazing how you can feel like a sack of king edwards one day and on top of the world the next.  Tomorrow is my latest long run and I'm aiming for 10 - the golden double f...

A whole day doing nothing

After overdoing the bazzing about this weekend I woke up feeling like a ton of bricks had been dropped on me.  Felt awful so announced I was off back to bed and there I have stayed all day - haven't even felt like reading, just slept but now up and feel...

Poor old bones

Did eight and  a half miles in the lovely Dorset sunshine.  Decided to stick near home as the weather was so nice so ran around the lanes which unfortunately meant up big hills too.  It felt most unpleasant near the top of some of them I don't mind tell...

Out in the wind and rain

Yesterday Queen of the Night and I ran around town in the howling wind and rain - got totally soaked and only clocked up 4 miles but better than nothing.  We actually ran in daylight without any complaints from you know who - I think we had more get up ...
