Blog started:

By our deeds, we are known.

The fifth carnation of the blog title.  We have moved from "Best Eaten Cold" through "On a yard" and then we went on to "Getting it done."  They've all summed up how I've felt about running at the time.  I seem to be turning full circle - Brighton gave me my second taste of revenge, still a dish best eaten cold, and I returned to "On a yard."  And the new title?  Ah, well, we're Buzzers, and by our deeds we are known...

On supermodels and Roy Keane...

Morning all.  A blog on a Saturday morning, keeping the frequencies clear later in the weekend for the heroes of Brighton. Now, some may say that having ignored the programme, through accident (illness) more than design for so long, it may be a tad lat...

"And not a word to Bessie..."

Ah, I feel a bit like Captain Redbeard Rum (Tom Baker) in Blackadder.  He commented that opinion on the subject of needing a crew was divided – there were all of the other captains, and then there was him. Analogise that with marathon training programm...

Ah, you know what they say...

Afternoon all. Thanks, as always, for your comments on my last blog.  The general consensus seemed to chime with my mind – and that was that the mind was important.  You all know about the battles between the chimp and the dog, and it’s coming round to...

One foot in front of the othe...

Ah, it’s all starting to build now, isn’t it?  Like a mighty river flowing, ever growing as its tributaries feed it on its way to the sea, the excitement is building as we hit April. And what an April it promises to be – the lure of the big city marath...

Dai The Quote

Ah, now how many Daves and Davids have I been fortunate enough to meet and share miles with as a result of this wonderful blogging site?  Their numbers are legion, their deeds legendary.  I’m thinking of three of them in particular as I blog today. You...

Two scientists...

Well, here I am again.  I should warn you that if you read on you’ll find a blog full of self-pity and disappointment.  I know there are many others (and more than one on this blogging site) with issues far, far worse than me.  But I’m still cross!  You...

I'm back and it's back

I'm back So, I’m back!  Again!! I was just building up a bit of momentum on the blogging front (and starting to even think about the same on the running front too!) when my busy February became a whole lot busier.  You see, a colleague went skiing.  A...

What every runner needs...

Oh my, what a run I had Sunday.  It truly was the morning after the day before. And what a day it had been on Saturday.  It was our fundraising curry night; Dave and I are both running for RNLI, and we were joined in the saddle by the third amigo, dcw....

One man and his dog.

Well, here we go again – another threshold set, another write up.  Now that I come to mention it, I actually think I have two to tell you of. Ok, the boring bits; the facts and stats. Sunday morning, 5.15am alarm call.  I was teaching.  I needed to do...

Glass half full!

Evening all.  A Friday update as, yep, you’ve guessed it, juggling the programme (2018 version) has started.  I’m working all weekend, and so what needed to be done, well, it got done.  Read on, my friends. After Tuesday’s thresholds, I felt stiff on W...

This is the life..

Two songs in one blog are promised below (maybe you could make that three – after all, two songs in one blog – this blog is on fire…).  Anyway, oh, how I have missed threshold running – you know in the “like a hole in the head” sort of way. This mornin...

New year, new blog title.

So, New Year, new blog title – I’ve used it a couple of times for individual postings, but I love it so much that I have decided to use it for the whole series.  I am sure that “On A Yard” will come back at some point, but for now we are “by our deeds w...

By our deeds we are known.

Evening all. So, Meriden was whispering to me, and I answered the call.  I had entered; I knew that Hobs wasn’t running it – at first, that was due to him wanting to appear in the local panto, but then circumstances took a worse turn with the sad passi...

Oh what a run!

So, it promised to be an almighty weekend.  Of course, the problem with such promises is that we’ve heard them before, from politicians and the like, and they’re rarely delivered on.  But these politicians aren’t Realbuzzers are they?!  We’re the mailme...

Whoop whoop

Ah, it’s a double whoop. The first is because the week has finally come; it’s the most wonderful time of the year.  It’s Snowdon time, it’s time for what is rapidly becoming the Reabuzzers’ AGM!  Oh, how exciting.  I love the build up, in a very perver...

It's been a while...

So, I’m back.  Maybe it’s only for a while, for some kind of time-bounded thing, who knows. You see, I’ve been away.  For a long time, it feels.  And away from what?  Well, away from blogging for sure (no, ****, Sherlock, you shout), but also away from...

HU5K

Afternoon all. Well, the wanderer returns eh?!  So much for me to catch up on, so much for me to talk about in terms of running.  That will come - patience, patience.  Before anything else, whilst I know you'll all say there is no reason to apologise f...

For the London marathon runne...

OK, what follows isn't original - it's something I've been posting for four years or so now in the week before the marathon.  It seems to work, though, and so it's for you to read.  I can't profess to being a marathon expert or anything, but you won't f...

The Stile Council

Two posts in two days must mean something.  Well, read all about it! All of the trail running that Dave(s) and I have done inevitably lead to lots of gates and stiles.  Indeed, when Hobs and I ran the Cotswold Way, one way in which we passed the miles w...

Kaiser and Blackadder!

Ah, all of the quotes and analogies could come your way today.  I’ll keep it brief to spare a few of them! I didn’t run at all last week; no way was the body up to it, even if the mind was.  The legs felt heavy still, the feet blistered and the shin nag...

Broken, but a woodwose again.

Well, where to start on that one. The summary is this; I turned up, I turned left, I kept Bristol to the left until I got back to the start and I got the bling to prove it. The end of the story?  Ah, well the summary above doesn’t begin to tell the tale...

Keane for it.

I’ve seen an interview with Roy Keane where he says that before a big game (like one of his legendary clashes with Viera’s Arsenal), he could feel all of the old injuries starting to flare and niggle – he knew that it was his body preparing itself for a...

Return of the mack...

Ah, the course of distance trail running never did run smooth, did it?  And, quite frankly, would it be as much fun if it did? Anyway, a short one, but not that sweet from where I sit and type at the moment. Short?  There’s one run to report on, and tha...

Mudd(l)ing on through

Hi all Thanks for all of your comments on the Rok The Stones blog; somehow I knew that you’d overwhelmingly say that it was a PB, but it’s still nice to hear that! Anyway, since then, what?  Well, I have tried to keep the legs moving.  Here’s a summary....
