New challenges in 2011

After completing two London marathons in 2009 and 2010 I was hoping for three in a row.  No such luck as I got the reject magazine last week and feel that I cant go asking friends etc again by getting a Gold Bond place.  I have raised nearly £8000 over the last two years so will try agian for 2012.  Meanwhile, new challenges for the rest of 2010 and into 2011 will be needed.  I havent been running for the last few months because of a variety of ills and bad luck but that is going to change.

I am looking forward to getting back to full fitness and am hoping that I will get support from runners on the site.

Advice please

Hi I went for a run yesterday and now I have quite a bit of pain in my right calf- feels like a pulled muscle. I am supposed to do a long run this weekend so am icing and resting. My gut feeling is that I should miss the LSR to ensure that it heals up a...

I have decided that is the statement of the day if not my year! I did not do this one in the right way but the good news is that I did it!!! The whole thing about mind over matter is so true. I did a route that I dont usually do and wont be doing it aga...

Am pleased to say....

that  I ran 16 miles without needing to go to the loo today!! Now, those of you who have done London before will know why I am so pleased with that. The queues for the loos all add time to your chip time and they are really not very nice when you get fu...

I am definitely getting fitter

as I have just run 4 miles in 42 mins 30 secs.  Now I know that for many of you running miles at about 10 mins 30 secs is slow but when I run my LSR I am running a minute slower than that and on shorter runs at least 30 secs slower SO for me this shows ...

Pleased with myself..

I have been out to do my long run today and although it wasnt easy (are they ever!) I am pleased with myself. I ran 14 miles in 9 minutes less than I did this time last year and I managed to run it all with no walks to keep me going.  There were a few m...

I seem to have lost all sense of pace this morning.  I was doing a 12 mile run for my LSR but obviously the 101 Runnning Songs on the ipod gave my legs a different message. Overall, I ran it 7  minutes faster than I had intended with most of the miles b...
