Where Do I Start?

Where do I start?

This is my third year of blogging, but I only took part in the FLM once so far, in 2007. The experience was amazing, my time wasn't but I didn't do it for a time although a bit less than 8 hours would have been nice. Anyway, I haven't got through the ballot for 2009 so I get an extra year to train.

Despite my time and the pain from an ITB injury half way through I still rate April 22nd 2007 as one of the best days of my life, it really was that much fun, and that is why I am determined to do it again (plus I have a little matter of about 3 hours to lose from my time). I want to cross the finish line when there are still people around - in fact the 24 mile marker had already been dismantled by the time I got there!

For anyone who doesn't know, I am 44, diabetic and almost 20 stone. Let's see what we can do about that.

Weigh day

Just a little blog today, gotta go to work soon. Why do I agree to these things? It's gonna be bloody freezing out there, my heel is hurtiing today and I am soooooooo tired. I suppose it's the lure of money that does it but I won't even get paid until n...

Back to Weightwatchers

And NO, Mrs K isn't up the duff again. Yet. Went back to Weight Watchers last week and today was our first weigh in. Remember I tried Slimming World and just couldn't get to grips with red and green days, meat or spuds, carbs or protein? I said at the t...

No go yet

The league I referee in is short of refs this weekend so I said I would do my best but first I would go for a little jog (the first in almost 3 weeks) to see if my heel would hold up. Less than 100m on soft grass later I knew it wouldn't. Methinks this ...

Ooooh, nice pretty new blog p...

I knew it was goign to happen so I have no idea why you lot didn't. There has been a bloody great ad on the first page for a while, it even offered you a tour of the new site. Get over it, it has changed before and once we get used to this format it wil...

Tendon trouble

Yep, you guessed it. I have torn the tendons from under my heel away from the bone. Ooooh, that sounds excruciatingly painful doesn't it? Well it's not that bad but it does blooming hurt. It's really only a few fibres that have torn away so I mig...

Just reporting in

Heel still hurts, still can't run on it but it does seem to be getting better. I didn't bother with the docs, he would refer me for fizzio and that would have been 2/3 weeks waiting. I expected it to be OK by then but it's been almost 2 weeks now...

Cycling

Anyone know how many miles of cycling equates to one mile of running? This heel problem of mine isn't going away, I was stood on it for three hours last night and it was killing me by the time I got home. And working on it all day doe...

I hate Scrabble

That got you interested didn't it Pablo? First, I've still got heel ache, it was not too bad on Saturday but I pulled out of my refereeing commitments today just in case. It felt fine this morning and I even got my kit ready but decided to leave ...

Where have I been

Nowhere exciting, just not blogged that's all. Since Sunday I haven't really done much in the way of running. Rest day Monday so that was easy enough. When I reffed on Sunday, or rather after I got home, my heel was hurting. It was quite painful ...

Problems....and a solution

Rest day Thursday so that wasn't a problem, the amount of running around I had to do was. What bloody rest? This is one corner of my living room, it took three of us about 6 hours to black all the walls, put the props out and get it looking good ...

The trouble with Weightwatchers

A lot of you know this already but a few are confused by my last comment regarding WW. Look here Weightwatchers . Rest day today but I have a garden to tidy up, a house to clear, decorations to put up and 4 five a side matches to referee ...

Speedy for me

1½ miles in 13:59 tonight, I think that's as fast as I could possibly do it right now. When I do these speed runs I do walk a bit of it but if I didn't I would grind to a halt. Run half a mile, walk about a minute, run some, walk a little, run a ...

K-N-A-

Blimey, I am going to be K-N-A-C-K-E-R-E-D by Sunday night. Got a week off work and I seem to have so much to do. We are having a Halloween party on Friday night and that needs organising. No matter how much you think you are prepared there's alw...

Sunday round up

Managed to referee this afternoon despite the rain, I covered over 4 miles and when you think that it was 4 miles on muddy soft grass, and one part of the pitch was a bit boggy, I think that is a pretty good fartlek session. I am goin...

Stranded runners

If you have missed it, look here. Stranded Runners. How can the organisers have got that so wrong? Surely they look at weather reports and flood warnings ahead of a race. And surely they must have thought 'It's the GSR this weekend, it's bound to piss ...

Fat and fit PTII

Second post of the day. First, the Portsmouth Mile. This is the third year, I ran it in yr 1 in 10:01, I ran it last year with my 5 yr old boy so have no idea of time (it was about 11:30). Today I just wanted to break an official 10min mile. Star...

Fat and fit?

Look, I've been saying it for years and now an 'expert' agrees with me. You don't have to fall into the perfect BMI or weight category to be fit, Jonah Lomu was 19 stone and who would argue that he was unfit? Many rugby players, even some football play...

More of the same

Things are going as they have been really, there's not a lot to report. Did 3 miles last night in 33:42, still just over 11m miles but that was walk/run so it's not as bad as it looks. I'm catching you Kim! Then tonight my schedule asked for a sp...

Speed?

Worked out a little schedule for myself yesterday. I've been running with no aim, no target, no races to look forward to - I thought I would just run and see how I got on. With no targets though it was getting stale and I was just doing a jog rou...

Mrs K just farted

The title is nothing to do with running but I though I'd share it with you all. As for running? Well yesterday I did 3 miles in 34:12, today was 3 miles today 34:11! I usually do the first half mile in 5 minutes, give or take a few ...

Did today

See Ruddy, I did today. I feel for you mate but it won't stop me taking the piss. Will that cast be off by Pompey v Hull? Or shall I nick my mums wheelchair and see if we can get in that way? Today? 3 miles. Non stop. 34 minutes. No w...

Not today

Too busy. Poorly babies, important meetings and a late night. Don't make excuses. RUN! I made one today. Well, three actually.

Just a little one

Went for a jog during half time of the England match, 1½ miles in just over 16 minutes. Not sure what happened, I thought the first half was average pace for me, looked at my watch and I was 30 seconds over my usual pace. Picked it up a little fo...

Wrong time

Chose the wrong time to go out last night, went out at 6. I usually go out a little later but decided to go early so I could get on with things at home (plus Mrs K wouldn't nag me for going for a run right on bed/bath time for the kids). Do all y...
